Chapter 2: Change of plan
They shivered as they walked to the BBA hotel that was surprisingly near to the airport. It was a cold wintry day and nobody had their coats.
They were all tired from the long wait on the airplane.
They finally got to the hotel and entered it. It was a tall building with a flat roof and about 15 floors. They checked in at the front desk thing and then they all went to their rooms. The bladebreakers all had rooms close together on the 7th floor. But Terra’s was lower, cause she had reserved it instead of Mr. Dickinson. Terra’s was on the 3rd floor.
Twenty minutes later the bladebreakers, (Saphra: I guess the bladebreakers includes Terra now.) met in the lobby on the main floor of the hotel. It was around 6:00 pm and Tyson was starting to get hungry. (Saphra: tell me something new.)
“What do we do now?” asked Rai.
“There’s a dish on the 3rd floor.” Suggested Terra.
“There’s a buffet over there…” said Tyson pointing hopefully.
“Get serious Tyson” said Kenny jokingly. And they walked in.
Later that night, they where all hanging out in Max and Tyson’s room. (Saphra: don’t ask why.)
Max, Rai and Tyson where watching the ring. (Saphra: that movie scared me so much!) Kai was sitting in the corner by the window. Kenny was covering his eyes cause the movie scared him. And Terra was reading some book.
“AAAAHHH!” yelled Tyson and Max out loud as the little girl, Samara, from the movie looked up and you saw her face. Rai stayed calm knowing that it was all fake. Terra looked up from her book, and rolled her eyes.
Just then there was a knock on the door.
Terra put her book down and opened the door. A hotel employee handed her a letter.
“Thank you.” Said Terra. And she shut the door.
“Hey you guys,” she said, “its from Mr. Dickinson.” She walked over to everyone else and sat down on the couch.
“Read it!” said Tyson impatiently.
After a mean looking glance at Tyson, Terra started reading.
“Hello bladebreakers! I just wrote to tell you that there has been a change of plan. The tournament has been moved t—“ Terra broke off and started reading in her head. She didn’t look too happy. There was a few seconds of silence while she read it. She looked really worried.
“What does it say?” asked Rai looking at her.
“Oh,” said Terra casually, “it says that the tournament has been moved, cause they didn’t have enough money to have it here.”
“Really?” asked Tyson loudly, “Where is it gonna be?”
“It might be hard to believe,” said Terra, “But its been moved to Egypt.”
“WHAT!?” exclaimed everyone except Kai.
“Egypt?” asked Rai doubtfully, “Why Egypt?”
“Cause there’s a company there that has tons of money and they’re the only ones who have enough. This tournament costs.”
“Oh my goodness I can’t believe it!” said Kenny enthusiastically, “I’m finally gonna see the pyramids!”
“I know! Isn’t it great?” said Terra, something in her voice didn’t sound to sure about what she said. “The plane leaves tomorrow, so pack your bags!”
Later that night, Kai was still awake. He couldn’t sleep, something didn’t seem right. He left his room and shut the door behind him. He could still hear Tyson and Max rewatching the ring again. He walked over to a door, opened it, and began walking down the tons of stairs that led to the 3rd floor, the floor with the Blading dishes on it.
As he passed an open door, he heard a familiar voice. It was Terra’s and she was talking on the phone. Kai backed up a little so she wouldn’t see him.
Terra’s conversation: “I can’t go to Egypt, there’s no way—”……. If that’s the case then I don’t care about the tournam—”…….. “I can’t take that chance.” …..… “Of course they’ll recognize me.” …..… “Fine but if anyone finds out….. bye” and she hung up.
(Saphra: when there’s a whole bunch of…… it means the other person’s talking)
Kai silently walked passed her door without her noticing. What did she mean by “she can’t go to Egypt.”?
***
Terra put down the phone and sighed. She really didn’t want to go to Egypt. She checked the clock, it was 10 minutes after midnight. She lay down on the bed and fell asleep in seconds.
At around ten the next morning, everybody was packed and ready to go. They we’re all back at the airport and they had just boarded the plane. The plane was packed, there were so many bladders on their way to Egypt and there were no seats to spare. They all sat down and waited for the plain to leave. They had seats all together again.
After about 5 minutes, the plain left. Rai was looking out the window, Max was eating corn chips with Tyson, Kenny was typing on his laptop, Kai was staring out the window too and Terra had left to go look around the plain.
“ I’m tired!” yawned Tyson. He put his feet up on Terra’s empty seat making something fall. It was the book she was reading the other night. It fell open. Kai picked it up, curious, and flipped through it. He stared. The pages we’re covered in some strange writing in a different language. “How could Terra have been reading this?” he wondered, he didn’t even recognize what kind of writing it was. “Something’s weird about Terra, its like she’s hiding something.” thought Kai. He put the book back down on her seat and stared back out the window.
