Blue exorcist the anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by Kazue Kato. It centers around two twin boys, the product of a human woman and Satan.
How is that possible? Well in this world, there is the realm of humans (Assiah) and the realm of demons (Gehenna). Although these two realms should always remain separate, demons are invading the human world.
