Family Lineage As the son of Charles Di Britannia, Emperor of Britannia, and Imperial Consort Marianne, Lelouch was classified as the eleventh Prince of Britannia and the seventeenth in line for the throne. However, when an evil plot among the royal family (disguised as a terrorist attack) results in his mother's death and sister's crippling, Lelouch partially blames his father. The confrontation resulted in the boys banishment to Japan and the stripping of his title as Prince. In Japan, Lelouch and his sister stayed at the Kururugi home where he met and eventually became friends with Suzaku. After the Britannian invasion Lelouch and his sister came to live with friends of his mother, the Ashford's. Present Day Considered the main character of this series, Lelouch is initially depicted as an intelligent student of the elite Ashford Academy High School. He is a member of the student council and an absolute wiz at the game of chess. The series picks up 7 years following the invasion of the Britannia forces. Lelouch is returning from a game of chess (where he gained an easy victory) when suddenly he finds himself in the middle of a terrorist high jacking. The terrorists were confiscating a secret weapon to be used by the Britannians. When Lelouch investigates after the truck carrying the secret cargo crashes, he meets an unusual young woman. Shortly after the crash, Britannian forces arrive, and it looks as if the young student will be cut down. However, the woman gives the boy a strange power called "Geass." With that power, Lelouch is able to temporarily order people to do exactly as he commands. The power saves his life, but also, activates the feelings of revenge that he had harbored since Japan was first invaded. With his new power, Lelouch joins the terrorists under the guise of the mysterious "Zero." And thus he embarks on a quest to destroy Britannia no matter what the cost!! |
