~ 1 ~ The Call

“So much destruction…,” a voice whispered through the night. “How could this have happened?”

“It seems three spirits were not quit ready to be discovered,” a second hissed. “And now…this…”

“The spirits will of course summon them back, yes?” a third asked.

“Of course,” the first whispered. “But…whether or not they can be convinced to return…that is another trail within itself.”

                “WHAT?!”

“Oh, calm down Izumi,” Koji chided the female. “So what if you have to sit next to Takuya. You handled him in the Digital World, right?”

                “But…but…,” Izumi stuttered.

Laughter burst forth from the two boys, upon which they both had to duck to remain conscious as Izumi swung at them.

“THIS IS NOT FUNNY”! she screamed. “What will the others think?! I AM RUINED!”

“You? What about me? I’m stuck next to you all year!” Takuya countered.

“So what? I have an image to upkeep! The tough girl!” Izumi screamed. “Sitting next you…soon enough you’ll make me drop the façade by accident and then…AAAAHH!”

“Uh, maybe we should go,” Takuya whispered to Koji. He nodded and they snuck out as Izumi vented her anger on several pencils left laying on a desk nearby.

Together the two wandered down the hall. It was weird. It was a totally new school, since they had just moved to Junior High. Not only that, but they had changed too. Koji had grown his hair out a little more, and it came to rest comfortably at his shoulder blades, still wrapped in its usual ponytail. The new uniform was uncomfortably though. He constantly pulled at it in an attempt to keep it from choking him.

Takuya’s hair swept around his chin in slick brown waves, just like the famous signer Matt used to wear it when he was younger. Takuya’s dream was to meet then now twenty-one year old boy and find out just how cool he really was. He too did not appreciate the school uniform, though his did not repeatedly try to suffocate him as they walked.

“So, how’s Koichi doing?” Takuya finally asked.

“He’s coming for a visit this weekend,” Koji said with a fond smile. Ever since they had meant up in the digital world, the two had spent as much time together as possible, several weeks at a time during the summer, and on weekends during the school year.

“Hey, I wonder if we can go back,” Takuya suddenly mused.

“To the Digital World?” Koji pressed. Takuya nodded. “That would be nice. I’d like to see the Digimon again.” Another fond smile drew across his lips, “I want to see how beautiful it really is without darkness sweeping over it.” They walked the rest of the way in silence, exploring old memories that just wouldn’t fade.

“I’m home!” Takuya yelled into the house. His mother gave him a wave with her spatula and continued cooking as Takuya swept into his room. “Man, so much homework.”

Totally ignoring it, he sprang to his computer. Hopefully today his buds would be on to chat, but most likely their moms would have bullied them into homework as well. Gliding through all the passwords and online hook-ups, he finally got to his inbox. Mail.

“Wonder who that could be from,” he mused and clicked it.

Takuya Kanbara, Host to the Spirits of Augunimon and BurningGreymon-

We once more seek thy help. At first we thought the balance restored with Cherubimon no longer tarnished by the darkness, however, it seems we were wrong. The darkness has only grown stronger, and now threatens the Digital World after a year in waiting.

However, it seems you face another problem atop of this. There were three spirits that were not awakened, for it seems three children missed their chance to come to our world. They are the Spirits of Balance – Moon, Sun, and Stars.

We pray you will heed our cry and return. You must find these spirits and save us once more! And we warn you, this time, if you should fail, the Digital World will be destroyed, and so will yours.

Takuya stared open mouthed at the letter. It couldn’t be!
