Demegawa claims to be Kira's spokesman. During his "Kira's Realm" show, he asks for 1 million yen donations to build Kira a temple. Truth is, he is nothing more than a greedy, conniving, ratings-hungry moron. Money and power are his ultimate goal, and Kira can see that.

Light uses Demegawa to do his bidding in episodes 30, and 31 in order to dispose of Near, but the man failed when money appeared to be more important than carrying out his objective.
