BARGAINING

Raye Penbar returns to his hotel room after the gruesome bus incident. His fiance is there to greet him. She questions the criminals death, but Ray doesn't want her to get involved (She was once a FBI agent, but now is content to become Raye's wife and bare his children.).

Unfortunately, it is Light's intention to kill Raye after a week passes. That way he won't look like such an obvious suspect. In the meantime, he sends ominous "Death God" messages to L, and eliminates some additional criminals.

One week passes....a hooded Light comes up behind Raye in the busy terminal/shopping area. Still unseen, Light whispers to Raye that he is Kira and to do as told or his family and girlfriend will be killed. As proof....Light (a.k.a. Kira) kills a man working at a nearby shop. Light explains that this was a man who was a rapist, but got off due to a technicality. Light hands Raye an envelope containing a remote radio and is told to get on the subway sitting in a particular spot. (All the while Raye recognizes the voice but cannot place it.) Raye is also given an envelope with papers inside. He is told to write the names of his superior and other members of the FBI that were sent to Japan to investigate Kira. Of course, Raye does this thinking that since Kira does not know their faces, he cannot kill them. Once he is done, Light radios him saying to leave the envelope somewhere and exit the bus after 30 minutes.

Thirty minutes pass. Seconds after Raye steps off the subway he grasps his chest and collapses. The last thing he sees is Light in the doorway of the train. "Goodbye, Raye Penber," Light sneers. Seems that Raye wrote his colleagues names on a ripped off sheet of the Death Notebook. The result is all 12 FBI agents....dead. Not long after, the head of the FBI contacted L to say they are pulling out of the case. When the Japanese police hear that L had brought in the FBI, they begin to distrust him.

Meanwhile, Chief Yagami has given his police department a choice of staying on the case or resigning. Things are different now, because everyone realizes that Kira is not only killing criminals, but everyone who may get in his way! When all is said and done, only six dedicated policemen remain to bring Kira to justice. L has agreed to finally meet with this six man team. He is staying at a rather lavish hotel and explains that it is there that all of them will congregate.

In the Yagami home, Light anticipates meeting and finally disposing of L. At the same time L knows it won't be long before he discovers who the mysterious Kira is!

Wow...excellent episode, but I can't help but feel sad that Light has turned out to be pure evil. Don't miss the next episode where it appears that Raye's fiance is taking matters into her own hands.
