ENCOUNTER

Ryuk's lack of apples has left him a tangled, quibbling mess...so the next day Light purchases a bag and gives him the sweet fruit at the park where no one can see.

Meanwhile, the Chief is hoping suspicion is off his family since he believes there was no way they could of known about the purse snatcher and embezzler. L, however, still isn't quite convinced and continues to watch Light from the surveillance cameras. Unbeknownst to L, Light has come up with a plan to continue killing criminals with the piece of the deathnote that he keeps in his wallet.

When the police meet some time later, L announces that the wire taps have proved nothing, and they will be removed. Chief Yagami is relieved. L does clarify that just because the taps will be removed doesn't mean they will no longer be a suspect. He hits the nail right on the head when his thinks the person he is searching for is someone who is immature and believes they are playing God. "Ideally," L thinks, "I hope one day to meet Kira so that he can show me how the killing is taking place."

The next morning Light leaves to take his entrance exams. Once there, he notices a unusual student getting reprimanded for sitting strangely in the examination room.

Days later at the To-OH University entrance ceremony, both Light Yagami and Hideki Ryuga (L's alias) are supposed to represent the class. The other class members cannot believe that his Hideki person could be so intelligent especially with his strange appearance. However, both boys had the highest scores, and that is why they are giving the speech. After they leave the podium and take their seats, Hideki does the unthinkable and admits to Light that he is "L". Even though the possibility that Light is Kira is just under 5%, L is sure he's not wrong to suspect the boy. He knows that the scenario just presented will put great stress on Light if he is in fact......Kira!

After the ceremony, Light along the with other students are surprised to see the ragged Hideki get into a limo. When Light arrives home and gets to the privacy of his own room, he snaps. He angrily admits to Ryuk that L pulled a fast one, and he's unable to do anything about it! Light never considered the possibility that L would admit his identity on purpose. He resolves to pretend that nothing is going on while this Ryuga continues to play the absent minded genius. The boy lets out a diabolical laugh as only a homicidal maniac would after conceiving a new plan of action!
