DOUBT

NOTE: Timeline....about 4 months since the investigation of Kira began. This summary will be brief.

L, acting a Ryuga, is continuing his investigation of Light by trying to get close to the boy. He challenges Light to a tennis match knowing that Kira hates to lose. (L, himself, was a junior champion when he lived in England.) As expected, Light won four out of six games. Afterwards, L admits he suspects the boy to be Kira, but the probability is only 1%. Light asks L to go to coffee so they can talk.

While sitting in a secluded area of the coffee shop, the two play mind games....L is presenting Light with Kira evidence and waiting to see what type of reaction Light has. Suddenly, they get a call that Chief Yagami has had a heart attack! The two rush to the hospital. Luckily, the attack was caused by stress (we know it couldn't be Kira..now don't we.) The Chief tells Light that the person who was given the opportunity to kill people is very unfortunate. Light listens, but doesn't actually share the same sentiments.

Later that evening, when L is driven off in his limo, Light turns to Ryuk. "I never thought that picking up the note and gaining it's power as misfortune," he says to the Shinigami. "Ever since I've gained this power, I've been the happiest I've ever been."

Elsewhere, at a local TV station, the manager is very excited when tapes arrive claiming to be from Kira. He is sure that the ratings are going to soar!
