FRIEND

Picking up from last episode, Light embraces Misa saying he can't be her boyfriend, but will pretend to be. Inside he is thinking that she will be his pawn to kill "L" and the rest of the investigation team. Once that is done, he will kill Misa as well. (What a nice guy :p)

Returning to the hotel, L is reviewing all of the tapes from the 22nd. He believes it is possible that the two Kira's came in contact at that time.

Back in Light's room, Misa has just informed the boy how to kill a Shinigami. (If a shinigami loves a certain human and uses his notebook to extend the human's life, the shinigami will die.) The discussion then changes. Light tells the girl to dispose of any tapes with her friend's fingerprints after sending one more stating intentions and the possibility of sharing the power. This (he hopes) will throw off the police. Of course, Misa says she will do anything that Light asks, however, she has one rule of her own. She wants to have a date at least once a week. Light explains L's suspicions and why dating will not be possible. He adds that it will be necessary to see other girls in order to mislead those suspicions. Misa is totally against this and says she will kill any other girls. When Light threatens to kill Misa if she doesn't obey him, Rem steps in. The shinigami says he will write Light's name in his deathnote if he tries to kill Misa....and yes, he is aware that it will kill him as well. Moments later, Mrs. Yagami knocks on the door. She says it is too late for a young girl to be out. Misa leaves.

The next morning Light asks his Mother and sister not to tell anyone of Misa....she is a famous model and it wouldn't be good for her to have a boyfriend.

Later at Toudai University, Light is thinking of the events about to unfold when a pretty brunette sitting next to him says he doesn't seem to be enjoying himself. Seems she is Miss Toudai, and Light had asked her out!?! Sitting in the top row of the lecture hall is a detective watching every more Light makes.

After classes, Light joins L where he is shown the latest tape from the second Kira. Based on the tape, L is sure that the two Kira's have met. He also says that his suspicion of Light has decreased for he believed that the second Kira would have been told to get L on TV. so he could be killed. Light responds saying that if he were Kira he wouldn't do that. He knows that L is not about to sacrifice himself for anyone. Then L throws Light a curve by saying that he is his first friend.

Walking home, Light is practically tackled by Misa. Inside he truly wants to belt her one, but invites her to his home. Keeping inconspicuous, an investigator is surprised to see another girl interested in Light. In his home, Sayu and Mrs. Yagami are happy to see the famous model, but in Light's room the atmosphere changes. Light becomes serious and asks Rem to kill L for him. Then he will be happy which in turn makes Misa happy.

"Fine," Rem says adding, "I hate you. Even it I do something that results in the extension of your lifespan, I won't die. I'll kill L. For me L is just another human."
