The Kid Called Matt (Episode #5)

Burton (in his Lord Gale) has destroyed an apartment building instead of an old refinery. Many shaken people are left homeless, but the heartless Burton simply smirks. Who is behind this merciless act?

Meanwhile, Mach Storm is involved in a Zi Battle. The team is getting pummeled, but RD doesn't act responsibly. Instead he conceitedly expects to fuse with the fire phoenix and THEN defeat the other team. Too bad...The fire phoenix never showed up, and Mach Storm was defeated. This causes the bureau to pull RD's Zi fighter license.

As Rd walks dejected and hungry along the streets of Blue City, he is approached by a young, starry-eyed boy. The boy recognized RD as a Zi fighter and is truly impressed.....then he hears RD's stomach growl. The boy introduces himself as Matt and takes RD to his home for (what else?) FOOD. RD scarf's down the delicious meal while asking Matt about his lifestyle. Matt explains that his mother is dead and his father went off to work in construction so money could be sent to keep the apartment. RD explains his past as well. During RD's visit, Matt's neighbor notifies him that (due to threats) everyone is moving from this complex.....the boy is devastated.

Later that day, two caped, masked individuals invade Mach Storm headquarters wreaking havoc with water and sling-shots. It's RD and Matt supposedly testing the security, but actually just angering everyone. (Can someone please explain the purpose of this scene??) Anyway, after all had settled down, RD thrilled Matt by taking him for a ride in the LeoBlaze. (Due to his suspended license, RD could not take the Liger Zero.) When they stop in the valley to take a short break, Matt slips into the Leoblaze while RD isn't looking and takes off.

RD races back to headquarters and jumps into the Liger Zero....license or no-license. He's caught by Helmut and Sigma, but they are sympathetic when told that Matt is in big trouble and may lose his home.

Miles away, Burton is ready to trash the apartment complex when Matt shows up and challenges him. The inexperienced boy is no match for Burton, who is ready to do away with the boy. RD shows up just in time to help Matt. Blake, lurking in the shadows, demands that RD "butt out!". When RD refuses, the two go after one another. Matt tries to help when he sees the Liger Zero taking damage, but that just enrages Blake so he calls for: "Fuzors Combine! Buster Fury!" At this point RD realizes that he was getting just too cocky....it's time to forget ego and get back to basics. With those words, the fire phoenix appears and: "Fuzors Combine! Liger Zero Phoenix!!"

RD comes after Savage Hammer with a diving laser claw attack. It sends the Lord Gale flying, but the Buster Fury's force field blocks the attack. Now it's Blake's turn. Just when he locks on to the Liger Zero Phoenix, the Peace Keeping Bureau arrive. Lucky for RD, Blake takes off echoing that they'll meet again another day.

Back at Mach Storm headquarters, later that day, RD complains because he is put to work as punishment for disobeying orders. Matt is there as well, but the boy is cheerfully cleaning. Seems Hop has allowed the boy to stay with them from now on...a decision that has made Matt very happy! ^_^!
