Inuyasha: A New Beginning

Chapter Nineteen
Inuyasha ducked as the swords flew past him. He then got up and blocked the attacks with his sword as Jakotsu’s swords came flying back to him. “Heh, you’ll have to do better than that.”
Jakotsu smiled. “I can and I will.” He threw his swords again.
Inuyasha jumped over them and did a flip landing behind Jakotsu. He then clawed him across the back. Jakotsu turned around and shot him a glare. He then caught his swords and threw them at him again. Inuyasha frowned and jumped over him again. He was about to stab Jakotsu when he spun around and stabbed him with the two swords he hadn’t thrown. Inuyasha growled and Jakotsu smirked.
Nina and Inukai
continued running down the hall when they saw the battle that was going on
between Inuyasha and Jakotsu. Inukai quickly put Nina behind him and drew out
his sword.
Bankotsu spotted the two and went over to
them. “Hello. I see that Seth and Alendria were no match for you two. Very
well.” He snapped his fingers and Genkotsu and Suikotsu went over to him. “You
two take care of these children.” He went over to the rest of the Shichinintai
smiling. Genkotsu and Suikotsu also smiled.
“You ready to go down?” Suikotsu asked as he grabbed out his weapon.
“Whenever you are,” Inukai said.
Genkotsu shot out his saucers. Nina made her claws appear and grabbed a sword that was nearby to block the saucers. Genkotsu eyes narrowed and he shot out a cannonball. Nina rolled to the side and jumped up in the air throwing the sword to the side and holding out her claws ready to strike.
Inukai and Suikotsu’s weapons clashed. They began pushing against them glaring at each other waiting for the other to give in. Suikotsu then kicked Inukai in the stomach causing his wound to reopen. Inukai put a hand to his wound and snarled. Suikotsu only smirked.
Kagome grabbed out an arrow and began aiming it at Bankotsu. If I get rid of him, there won’t be a leader anymore and they’ll all leave us alone.
Bankotsu stopped smirking once he saw what Kagome was doing. He looked towards Renkotsu and nodded.
Renkotsu then smiled and threw down his rope tangling it up with Kagome’s bow. Kagome looked at Renkotsu surprised then began trying to get her bow untangled. Renkotsu only smiled at the woman’s failed attempts and sent down his fire. Kagome saw this and began to panic. She then saw that it was hopeless and threw the bow to the side sending Renkotsu a glare.
Inuyasha clawed Jakotsu across the face. Jakotsu’s eyes widened and he shot a glare at Inuyasha.
“Look what you’ve done. You’ve ruined my face,” Jakotsu said. “It will take a long time for these cuts to go away.” Tears filled his eyes and he began crying.
Inuyasha’s eyebrow began twitching.
“This is so not fair!” Jakotsu cried.
Bankotsu rolled his eyes. “Jakotsu, no one cares about your stupid face! Get up and kill Inuyasha!”
Jakotsu sniffed then glared at Bankotsu. “I beg your pardon?! People do too care about my face. Especially me! I’m not fighting until these cuts go away!”
Bankotsu growled. “Do it or else.”
Jakotsu looked away, crossed his arms, and closed his eyes. “No.”
Bankotsu let out another growl and went over to Jakotsu. “Then I have to punish you.”
Jakotsu turned around with wide eyes. His face paled and filled with a look of pure horror.
Bankotsu held his weapon up high then went in for the kill aiming for his neck.
Nina, who saw what was happening since Genkotsu and everyone had stopped what they were doing to also see what was happening, quickly looked away not wanting to see the scene. She heard the weapon hit Jakotsu then heard two thumps telling her that Bankotsu had indeed cut off Jakotsu’s head and that the thumps had come from his head and body when they hit the ground. She gulped then looked towards Inukai. Their eyes met.
Inukai sensed rather than saw that Nina was scared. He could tell she was trying to not show it and was doing a very good job at it, but he could smell the fear on her scent. He took his eyes away Nina’s and glared as well as growled at Bankotsu. He didn’t like the fact that he had gone and scared Nina even if he wasn’t aware of it.
Bankotsu looked towards Inukai with emotionless eyes and shrugged. He then went over to Inuyasha. He pointed his weapon at him. “It seems as though I am your opponent.”
Inuyasha smirked. “Good. I’ve been waiting for the day to kill you.”
Inukai took his eyes away from Bankotsu and charged after Suikotsu. Suikotsu spotted him and jumped over him and then stabbed him in the stomach. Inukai growled and knew that the attack had made his wound even bigger. He put his hand over his wound then used one of Inuyasha’s famous attacks, flying claws of blood. Suikotsu saw them coming and almost successfully dodged it, but one of the “claws” cut him across the cheek. He wiped the blood away and shot Inukai a glare.
Renkotsu threw his rope at Kagome then ran over to her. He then began tangling her in it. Kagome tried getting free, but the more she struggled, the tighter Renkotsu made it. She looked towards Inuyasha for help to see he was too busy to notice. Once Renkotsu was done tangling her in the rope, he smiled wickedly. He was about to release his fire when a boomerang flew past him and cut the rope releasing Kagome. Kagome looked towards her saviors happily while Renkotsu shot them a glare.
Kagome’s saviors were none other than Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Koga, Sesshomaru, Rin, Sharon, and Anna.
Miroku and Shippo ran over to Kagome. “Go on ahead, Lady Kagome. I shall take care of him and so will Shippo. Sango and Rin will take care of the machine, Sharon and Anna will take care of Suikotsu, and Koga and Sesshomaru will take care of the leader.”
Kagome nodded and ran over to Nina, Inukai, and Inuyasha. After she had gathered them, they ran towards the throne room.
Be careful, you four, Miroku thought as he began to fight Renkotsu.
Kagome, Nina, Inukai, and Inuyasha entered the throne room to find it empty.
“Where is he?! Inuyasha and Inukai demanded.
“Keep your voices down,” Kagome hissed.
“I’m sure he’s around here somewhere,” Nina said softly. Her eyes filled with concern when she saw Inukai’s wounds. She began biting her lower when she remembered her vision.
Just then, the scene before her began changing. She found herself in the same room that she had seen here vision in so many times except there was a lot of things that had changed. The room was a lot lighter than it had been before. Except now she could see the floor and all the objects in the room. The floor was golden. The objects were also golden. She then saw what looked like people lying down one the ground with their backs facing the ceiling. She went over to them and stopped. Her eyes widened as soon as she recognized the people. They were Sango, Miroku, Sesshomaru, Rin, Kagome, Inuyasha, Shippo, Sharon, and Anna. They had many cuts and bruises, but they were alive. She then found out the reason they were on their stomachs was because they were chained to the floor. She let out a sigh of relief knowing they were alive. She then looked around the room again to see Naraku and Inukai fighting. Inukai was using his claws and Naraku was using Inukai’s sword. Her eyes widened when she saw how wounded he was.
He’s losing so much blood from those wounds. He’ll die, Nina thought. No! He can’t die! “Inukai, don’t leave me behind like this!” Tears filled her eyes and began going down her cheeks. She then spotted another person across the room from her. She went over to the person and her eyes widened with horror. The person was none other than her and the other her was all covered in blood. She gulped to keep herself vomiting at the scene and looked away towards Naraku and Inukai. Naraku had the sword pointed at Inukai’s throat. Inukai’s breathing was heavy and it looked as though he was exhausted. Nina heard groaning follow by a mumble that sounded oddly like Inukai’s name. Nina turned around to see who was mumbling, but the scene began changing again and she soon found herself back in the throne room.
“He’s not here,” Nina muttered.
“Then where is he?!” Inuyasha and Inukai demanded.
“He’s in a different room,” Nina said. Her eyes then widened when she realized where the room was. She ran up to the throne and began looking around it.
Inukai went over to her. “What are you looking for?”
“There’s a switch of some kind around here,” Nina said. “It’ll take us to the room that Naraku’s in.”
Really?” Inukai asked.
Nina nodded.
“How do you know?” Inukai asked.
Nina shrugged. “I don’t know how I know. It’s just this feeling I have.” She then let out a sigh as she remembered her vision. “Kagome and the others should stay behind.”
“What?! Why?!” Inukai whispered so that Inuyasha and Kagome couldn’t hear.
“I had another vision,” Nina said. “That’s why.”
“What happened?” Inukai asked becoming concerned.
“Inuyasha, Kagome, and everyone else were killed,” Nina lied not wanting to tell him what had really happened to their friends and… her.
Inukai nodded. “Then that’s what’ll have to happen.”
Miroku blocked Renkotsu’s attack and hit him over the head with his staff. Renkotsu ducked and threw rope around the monk’s ankle. He then pulled the rope causing Miroku to trip. This caught Miroku by surprise and he didn’t have time to react to the next attack. Renkotsu tied Miroku up and sent down the flames. Miroku began struggling to get free. Shippo, who was once again using Koga’s sword, ran over to Miroku to help him.
Sango ducked as Genkotsu shot out his saucers. Rin, who had grabbed a sword earlier, blocked the attack. Sango stood up and threw her boomerang. Genkotsu sent out his saucers again and hit Sango’s boomerang causing it to fly up in the air and get stuck in the ceiling. Sango glared at Genkotsu and unsheathed her sword.
Koga jumped over Bankotsu and was about to kick him in the back when Bankotsu threw him into the wall. He then turned around and blocked Sesshomaru’s Toukijin. Sesshomaru shot him a death glare and kicked Bankotsu in the stomach. Bankotsu snarled and cut him across the chest. Koga got up and charged after Bankotsu.
Anna slashed at Suikotsu. Suikotsu dodged her attack and cut her across the arm. Sharon shot her fire at him and hit him in the back. Suikotsu turned around and shot her a glare. Sharon smirked and Anna stabbed him in the back. Suikotsu turned to glare at Anna and Sharon hit him in the back with her fire again.
Shippo cut the rope that tied Miroku and began charging at Renkotsu. Renkotsu threw his rope at Shippo and began sending his fire down it. Shippo sent his fox fire down the rope. Miroku got up and went in front of Shippo getting ready to use his wind tunnel. Renkotsu saw Shippo’s fire nearing him and threw the rope down. Shippo did the same and Miroku opened up his wind tunnel. Renkotsu began to panic and looked around for help.
Sango cut Genkotsu on the arm. He threw her into the wall. Rin stabbed him through the back. He did the same to her he did to Sango.
Koga jumped up in the air and held his sword ready to cut through Bankotsu. Sesshomaru growled and cut Bankotsu across the arm. Bankotsu went in for the kill. Koga cut him across the back due to him moving to hit Sesshomaru. Bankotsu let out a cry and threw the two into the walls opposite of each other.
Suikotsu saw Miroku using his wind tunnel and threw Sharon in the way of him. Sharon looked towards Miroku. Miroku’s eyes widened and he quickly closed his wind tunnel just in time causing Sharon to crash into Miroku knocking him out.
Renkotsu let out a sigh of relief and smirked as he looked towards the unconscious Miroku. Shippo, who had gone behind him while he was distracted, stabbed him through the back where his heart would be. Renkotsu’s eyes widened as he looked at Shippo. He let out a cry of rage and shot out his fire sending Shippo to crash into the wall knocking him out. Renkotsu then fell to the ground dead.
Sango groaned and stood up. She then spotted her boomerang just inches away from her. She ran over to it, picked it up, and threw at the approaching Genkotsu. Genkotsu saw it coming and put an arm up to block it, but Rin, who had also gotten up, cut him across the arm causing the boomerang to cut off that same arm she had cut. Genkotsu shot the young girl a glare and was about to attack her with his left over arm when Sango’s boomerang cut that one off. He shot Sango a glare and threw out what looked to be several saucers. Sango and Rin tried dodging them, but found it very hard to and got hit a lot. Rin and Sango exchanged glances and together the two charged at Genkotsu. This caught the machine man off guard and the two women stabbed him through the heart. Genkotsu fell to the ground dead and the two women passed out from losing too much blood.
Bankotsu slowly walked over to Sesshomaru. Once he was in front of him, he lifted his weapon up above his head.
Anna and Suikotsu’s weapons clashed. The two snarled at each other and pushed against their weapons waiting for the other to give in. Suikotsu smirked and kicked her in the stomach then cut her across the chest. He then threw her into the wall knocking her out. Sharon got up, went behind Suikotsu, and watched him closely as her one of her hands began glowing green. She then stabbed him through the stomach with her hand. Suikotsu turned his head and shot her a glare. Sharon smirked as she pulled out her hand.
“I just stabbed you with my poison claw attack in case you’re wondering,” Sharon said as she began wiping the blood off her hand.
Suikotsu growled and cut her across the arm.
Sharon shook her head. “The more you move, the faster the poison spreads. The faster the poison spreads, the faster your death comes.” She then used Sesshomaru’s golden whip like attack cutting him across the chest.
Suikotsu snarled and cut her across the stomach. Sharon’s hand began glowing green again and she punched him on the forehead causing it to bleed and making the poison as well as blood go into his eyes blinding him. Sharon smirked knowing that he wasn’t related to dog demons in anyway and, thus, wouldn’t be able to smell or sense where she was meaning she had the upper hand and could get rid of him once and for all. And so she did when she used her golden whip attack again and cut off his head.
Sharon smirked all the more then saw Bankotsu getting ready to kill Sesshomaru. She looked towards Koga to see him knocked out and frowned. She then slowly walked behind Bankotsu as her hand began glowing green and stabbed him behind the back where the heart is. Bankotsu shot her a glare as he looked over his shoulder. Sharon smirked as she, once again, pulled out her hand and began wiping the blood away. Bankotsu snarled and threw her into the wall knocking her out before her fell to the ground dead.
Nina sighed and looked towards Kagome and Inuyasha. “Can you two please stay behind?”
Inuyasha grunted. “What kind of question is that? Of course not.”
“But you have to,” Nina protested.
“We’re here to help,” Kagome said.
“And we want to kill Naraku for revenge as well as to teach him a lesson and to keep him from torturing anymore people,” Inuyasha said.
“Stay behind,” Inukai said through a low growl.
“No,” Inuyasha said. “I’m not leaving Nina alone with someone as irresponsible as you.”
“I am not irresponsible,” Inukai said. “I’ll protect Nina with my life. I won’t let Naraku lay a finger on her. I promise.”
Nina looked towards him a bit surprised. Her expression then softened.
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, boy,” Inuyasha said.
“Well, I don’t want her coming anyway,” Inukai said. “So, she’ll stay with you and you two take her away from here as far as possible. She has the Shikon Jewel and Naraku can’t have it.”
“I’m coming rather you like it or not,” Nina said as her eyes narrowed. “I’m the one who had the vision, not you. I know what happens and the answer is no.” Her eyes then darted to the ground as she began thinking back to her vision knowing that if she didn’t leave she was going to die and that Naraku would have the jewel, but what if she did leave and Naraku had found out and he found her and killed her anyway then he would have the jewel and Inukai and the others would die. She couldn’t let that happen. She wouldn’t allow it.
Inukai sighed. “You’re staying and that’s final.”
“Yeah,” Inuyasha said. “Kagome, you and her get out of here.”
“No!” Kagome and Nina protested. “I’m staying!”
“You’re going,” Inuyasha and Inukai ordered.
“I am not leaving your side Inuyasha!” Kagome cried.
“Inukai, I have to stay,” Nina protested. “I know what happens. I have to go with you.”
Inuyasha was speechless then said, “I don’t want to lose you again.”
“And you won’t,” Kagome said softly.
Nina and Inukai exchanged glances feeling a wave of guilt. Inukai thought Kagome was going to die and Inuyasha was going to join her if he and Nina didn’t convince the two to leave while Nina knew she was going to die and that the Shikon no Tama would soon be in Naraku’s possession rather she left or not.
Inukai sighed and unsheathed his sword. Nina gave him a puzzled look while Kagome and Inuyasha were still talking not noticing what Inukai or Nina were doing. Inukai went behind Inuyasha and hit him on the head with the hilt of his sword. Inuyasha turned around and glared at him then passed out. Kagome’s eyes widened.
“Wha-what are you doing?!” Kagome demanded.
Inukai tried remaining as emotionless as he could and quickly hit her on the side of the head with the hilt. Kagome passed out. He then turned to face Nina. Her eyes widened with fear.
“In-Inukai, don’t do this,” she said as she began backing up. “You know you don’t want to. Let’s go together to face Naraku.” She then regained her composure and stood her ground. “You can’t fight him alone and I won’t let you. You’ll get yourself killed.”
Inukai’s eyes softened. “Quit worrying about me. I keep telling you to worry about yourself and since you won’t, I’ll have to knock you out.” He raised his hand and was about to knock her out when she grabbed his hand.
“I have to worry about you,” Nina said as tears filled her eyes. “No one else will. I have to protect you when you’re weak and you do the same for me. We protect each other. I need you and I couldn’t bare it if I lost you. Besides, we’re in Naraku’s territory. If you knock me out, he’ll just take advantage of that and capture me as well as the Jewel of Four Souls.”
“You don’t have to protect me,” Inukai said softly as sheathed his sword then put her hands in his. “I can take care of myself. You’re the puppy, not me.” At this, she glared at him and he smirked knowing he had gotten her mad once again. “I’m a dog. I need to the protecting and you need to do the running.”
“I am not a puppy,” Nina said angrily. “I’m your friend and I’m here to help you and make sure you don’t die! Can’t you see that I couldn’t go on if you died!”
“Nina…” Inukai said softly not sure what to say.
“W- aaah,” Nina said unable to finish her sentence as Inukai grabbed her hand and drew her close to him then letting her hand go he embraced her.
“Nina, I can’t lose you. You’re too precious to me,” Inukai said. “Don’t you see that?”
“Inukai…” Nina said softly and rested her head against his chest as tears began going down her face. I can’t tell him the truth. I just can’t. She closed her eyes. I’m so sorry, Inukai. Inuyasha. Kagome. Everyone. I’m so sorry.
Inukai smelled Nina’s salty tears and knew she was crying. All he knew was that she was sad since he could smell the scent on her. Sad about what, he had no idea. He began stroking her hair. “Shh, I’m here and I won’t leave your side. Ever.”
Nina whimpered and continued sobbing. I know you won’t, Inukai, but I will. I’m so sorry! Fate is so cruel to me.
“I’ll protect you with my life,” Inukai continued not knowing how he was making Nina feel. “I promise.”
You heard Inuyasha. Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Nina thought. Because protecting me with your life isn’t going to happen. I’m going to die and you won’t have anyone to protect but yourself… and our friends. I’m sorry! It wasn’t my choice. It was my fate. My destiny. I was supposed to bring everyone this far and then I would complete it. It’s yours to finish what was left unfinished. Kagome will have to purify the jewel and you’ll have to kill Naraku. Kirara will help you. I’m so sorry, guys.
Inukai sighed and
slightly loosened his grip on her. He then put a hand underneath her hand and
gently tilted it upward to look into her now opened wet hazel eyes. He wiped her
tears away with his other hand then began to caress her cheek. “Fine. You won’t
have to go. But you have to promise to stay behind me at all times.”
Nina nodded as she looked into his
concerned golden eyes.
“Okay,” Inukai said taking his arms away from her. “Then let’s go.”
The two went over to the throne. Inukai began looking around for a switch on the seat and wasn’t having any luck. Nina watched him then spotted something that looked like a gray line on the wall. She got up and went over to it out of curiosity. She put a hand over it to see nothing happen. She then punched it. Still, nothing happened. She then kicked it to see nothing happen. She clawed it to see nothing happen and to also see that that really hurt her fingers. She then pushed against it to see nothing happen. She finally let out a sigh of defeat and leaned against it closing her eyes. She then let out a yelp of surprise when she felt herself begin to rise. She quickly opened her eyes to see that the wall was turning upside down and the reason she was rising was because the wall was flipping over.
“Inukai!” Nina cried.
Inukai looked form the throne towards her to see that the wall was going to close and leave him behind. He quickly ran over to the wall, grabbed hold of it, and went on top of it just in time. The wall finally completely flipped over and Nina and Inukai fell down on their heads hitting what felt like a concrete floor.
The two got up a bit dazed and rubbed their heads to see they were in a room filled with golden objects and the floor was golden. Nina’s eyes widened when she realized this was the room she had seen her vision in. She then realized why she hadn’t seen Kirara in it because they had left her behind in the other room.
Oh, great. Now who’s supposed to help Inukai out? Nina thought.
“Ow, that really hurt,” Inukai said still rubbing his head not realizing that this was the room Nina’s vision had taken place in. He growled. “Naraku needs to get a better switch that leads to his hidden room. He could’ve given us a concussion or worse.”
Nina frowned. “He’s somewhere around here.”
“Hello. I see you’ve found me,” a voice said.
Nina and Inukai followed the voice to see Naraku.
Inukai put Nina behind him and unsheathed his sword. “You ready to die?”
“I should ask you that,” Naraku said. He put his hands above his head. They began glowing red.
There was rumbling noise then the ground began shaking. Nina grabbed Inukai’s arm out of fear and to hold onto it so she wouldn’t fall. Inukai put his free hand over hers. The ground then began opening in the far right corner and then the ground over there disappeared and was replaced by a new one. The rumbling and shaking stopped and Inukai and Nina saw Kagome and the others chained up on the floor. Nina’s eyes widened again as she knew that had happened in her vision, too.
So, even after I tell them to stay behind, they get captured. That stinks, Nina thought.
“Give me the jewel and I won’t kill them,” Naraku said.
Inukai growled and raised an arm in front of Nina. “No.”
Nina covered the jewel with her hand as she watched Naraku.
“Very well,” Naraku said. “Then I shall have to kill you to get to it apparently.” A sword appeared in his hands. “Prepare to go down, dog boy.”
“Heh, speak for yourself,” Inukai said smirking.
And so, the final battle was about to begin.
