CHARACTER PROFILES

InuYasha

English Voice Actor: Richard Cox

So many words can describe InuYasha....brash, cocky, rude, crude, selfish, arrogant, and always ready for a fight. Yet despite those unpleasant characteristics, deep within him is a heart of gold who would go to his death protecting those he loves or cares about.

InuYasha was born a hanyou (half demon/half human), the product of a human mother and demon father. He grew up with ridicule...always referred to as a half-breed. InuYasha was entrusted with the phantom sword, "Tetsusaiga", which was forged from one of his father's fangs. It is InuYasha's compassion for humans that can bring out the full capabilities of the sword. It has the power to simultaneously kill 100 demons.

The start of each month, when the moon is invisible, InuYasha loses his supernatural demon powers to become a human. This period of vulnerability lasts until the next morning. Aside from those moments, InuYasha's strength compares with the strongest of youkai (demons).

Kagome Higurashi

English Voice Actor: Moneca Stori

Kagome was your normal modern-day high school girl until she was pulled into the Shrine's hidden well. She had many friends and did well at her studies. However, since transporting to the Feudal Era, she has had to miss many classes and her grades have suffered. Her grandfather explains her absences with the most ridiculous excuses (ie: Shingles or Gout).

Kagone found that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo, which is not surprising since she comes from a long line of priests. She is normally good natured and kind hearted, except when InuYasha's crudeness gets on her nerves.

If there's one thing that impresses me about Kagome, it would be her bravery. She faces danger head-on. It is her quick thinking that has saved the group on many occasions. Her special ability to see the Shikon shards within a demon makes her very existence important to InuYasha. That...and the fact that he is slowly falling for her. Although she tries to fight it, the feelings are becoming mutual. (It's cute how stubborn they are with their emotions.)

Shippo

English Voice Actor: Jillian Michaels

Shippo is a young fox demon left orphaned by the evil Thunder Brothers. He has the ability to shape-shift and use illusionary forms of magic to attack. He grows very fond of Kagome and tags along with her and InuYasha after the Thunder Brothers are defeated. His first appearance is in episode 9.

Miroku

English Voice Actor: Kirby Morrow

Oh boy, this guys really got one over-active libido (I don't believe he'll ever have a need for Viagra (Is that what they call it?)). Nuff said 'bout that.

Miroku is a Monk often hired to ward off (exorcise) evil spirits. Although that may sound honorable, those unfortunate enough to hire him usually find themselves cleaned out materialistically for this guy is also a con-artist and a thief.

Miroku's grandfather battled the shape-shifting Naraku many years ago and was left with an evil curse that is passed down through the generations. That curse is basically a black hole or air void pierced into the right hand. The air void is extremely powerful, sucking up everything in its path. As the void gets larger, it will eventually absorb Miroku as it did his father and grandfather.

Miroku joins InuYasha and Kagome in episode 16, for he too is anxious to find the jewel shards so that Naraku can be defeated thus lifting the curse.

Kikyo

English Voice Actor: Willow Johnson

The lovely Kikyo was born a priestess with gifted powers. She used her powers for the good of the villagers battling demons, famine, and illness. She was entrusted to protect the Shikon Jewel from evil. Sadly that would lead to her death. Before she died, Kikyo instructed her young sister, Kaede, to burn the jewel with her body.

Fifty years after Kikyo's death, the evil specter, Urasae, recreated the priestess. Urasae used Kikyo's ashes, bone fragments, and graveyard soil to do so. Tragically, what keeps the priestess wandering the earth is her bitter hatred of InuYasha (believing he betrayed her) and the souls of dead.

Sesshomaru

English Voice Actor: David Kaye

Sesshomaru is InuYasha's half brother. He is full demon and feels nothing but contempt for InuYasha. How ironic that his father would leave him the Tenseiga, a sword with the ability to revive 100 if the wielder could feel compassion toward the fallen. Sesshomaru's dark soul renders the sword useless, which is why he wants the Tetsusaiga in the worst way. His first appearance is in episode 5.

Lady Kaede

English Voice Actor: Pam Hyatt

Lady Kaede is the younger sister of Kikyo. It has been 50 years since the events that took the life of her beloved sister, and Kaede is now elderly. She too possesses the abilities of Priestess, and protects her village from evil demons. It is HER spell on InuYasha's beaded necklace that allows Kagome to keep him under control.
