INUYASHA EPISODES 76-80 BRIEF SUMMARIES

Target Sesshomaru and Inuyasha

The Hyounekozoku tribe lock Kagome behind bars, but she knows that Inuyasha will soon be there to rescue her. Fear overcomes her when she realizes that she is not alone in this prison.

Outside the castle grounds Inuyasha easily uses the testsusaiga's new power to destroy the barrier. Koga runs ahead while Inuyasha is joined by Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kirara. They enter a town that appears to be deserted until the group find themselves surrounded by cat people. After some fighting, Inuyasha demands to know where Kagome is. Karan says, "when the moon is at its peak, she will be offered as a sacrifice to our boss....along with you!" Just then smoke with a very strong odor fills the air. When more fighting ensues, Sesshomaru suddenly appears through the thick smoke. Karan and the cats leave saying they'll wait for them at the castle.

Sesshomaru tells Inuyasha to leave, but the hanyou refuses saying Kagome has been kidnapped. After knocking Inuyasha on his a$$, Sesshomaru angrily states, "...you don't belong in this story!" Then he walks away stepping on poor Jaken. Shortly after, Hatchi and Myoga arrive. While riding on Hatchi, Myoga tells of the war that occurred a long time ago when Inuyasha's father was still alive.

In Saigoku, a group of cats tried to rule the lands. Your father was the one that stood up against them. The opponent's leader was a huge cat called Oyakata. Your father fought against him and won. The demon who was under the cat's control was really glad for the victory, but a cat's revenge is awful and said to haunt your father and his allies.

Myoga takes off after relaying the story just before Hatchi is shot down by Karan. She wanted to make sure the hanyou is not leaving.

Koga, on the other hand, is wandering in the nearby forest. His two companions timidly tell him that they should work together with Inuyasha. A rustle is heard from the bushes and Louyakan (protector of the forest) emerges. He asks if Koga is there to help Sesshomaru? Koga responds with, "who's that?" Louyakan explains.

Back at the village, Sesshomaru is battling Kouran. Not far off, Inuyasha is battling Karan. Sango and Miroku are riding on Kirara and looking down at the flaming village. Suddenly, they are attacked by Shuuran. Who eventually throws the unconscious couple into the prison with Kagome.

The forest seems to have no way out for Koga and his companions. They soon discover that one of the cat siblings is using her illusions to keep them trapped.

Back in town, Jaken is overpowered by many of the cat people. Inuyasha rescues the small demon and sends those felines running. The young hanyou asks if Jaken has seen his friends? Jaken doesn't know where they are, but he is able to reveal what occurred with Sesshomaru and the cat people 50 years ago. Seems the small demon went to fetch Inuyasha to help, but the young hanyou was already sealed to the sacred tree.

In the prison Miroku and Sango have slowly regained consciousness. Kagome shows them how all of the townspeople were captured and thrown in this prison as well. The villagers are cowering in fear. Kagome tries to reassure them saying they will be rescued by Inuyasha and Koga. Then Miroku chirps in, "...but I'm not sure about Sesshomaru?" Kagome is surprised to learn Sesshomaru is here.

In a dark, ritualistic-like area, Kouran offers the shards she has gathered. "Soon, Oyakata, you will be revived," she coos. Sesshomaru approaches this area with caution. At the same time Shuuran is now attacking Koga, while the illusionist sibling is going against Inuyasha.

Will the cat people prevail? You must watch the next episode to find out!

Hyounekozoku and the Two Swords of Teeth

While Shippo, Myoga, and Kirara look for the others, Inuyasha continues to battle Shunran (cat illusionist). At the same time Koga is fighting with the large Shuuran (thunder/lightning cat), and Sesshomaru is facing off with Karan (fire cat). Sesshomaru is doing well against the fire cat, which surprises Kouran. She had thought he would become weaker without one arm. Koga, too, is able to defeat Shuuran thanks to his speed. Finally, Jaken assists (surprise) Inuyasha with Shunran. The end result is all the cats tell their opponents to meet in the castle.

Inside the castle grounds, Kouran offers the Shikon shards to a petrified Oyakata. When the moon reaches it's tallest height, the huge demon awakens. It devours the shards and utters,"Give me meat, blood and souls." (Ewww...guess he's not a vegetarian.) Behind a strong force field, the cat people keep their human sacrifices. Kagome, Miroku, and Sango are among them. Just as the demon is about to grab Kagome, Inuyasha breaks through the force field. Kagome tells the young hanyou that the shikon shards are in it's throat. She then takes charge in taking the other humans to safety. Koga and his friends help by fighting the cat people. Soon they are joined by Miroku and Sango.

Inuyasha has managed to knock over Oyakata with the power of the Tetsusaiga. Sesshomaru looks on enviously....he wants that sword. A flashback is shown of the battle 50 years ago. Sesshomaru had won, but the cat people got away. He blamed the tenseiga (the healing sword). While Sesshomaru was thinking, Shuuran tackled Inuyasha to the ground. Big brother comes to help, but then the two dog demons fight amongst themselves (brotherly love). Since the brothers are distracted, the cat siblings decide to combine their powers. In a surprising twist, Oyakata kills all the cat siblings except Kouran and swallows their souls. Oyakata has revived and transformed.

Inuyasha and Sesshomaru battle the huge Oyakata, who now fights with even greater strength. After taking a severe hit, Sesshomaru's eyes turn red in anger. Suddenly, his tenseiga pulsates as if speaking to him. Sesshomaru draws his glowing sword and leaps in front of Oyakata. The creatures gradually loses his powers and returns to the petrified form he had been. Sesshomaru walks away telling Inuyasha to finish the job. Inuyasha strikes with a Kaze no Kizu and destroys Oyakata once and for all. Afterwards he retrieves the shards.

Kouran grieves over her siblings....but wait! One by one they slowly awaken. Jaken explains it was the power of Sesshomaru's healing sword that brought them back to life. Inuyasha asks if they want to continue to fight, but Kouran says there is no longer a need to fight for revenge....they will head back to the West.

The next day the villagers give gifts to Kagome and the others for saving their village. Inuyasha and Koga watch from a distance. The two argue, but before they can fight, Kagome yells, "SIT." Poor Inuyasha....his face hits the dirt once again.

Not far off, Rin sits patiently singing a sweet tune. She turns happily after hearing her name. Sesshomaru and Jaken utter, "Let's go." She picks up Aun's leash and happily follows the man she idolizes.

Only You, Sango

Dozens of soldiers are fighting a huge demon, but they are losing badly. The next day, the king orders his men to "Find them, no matter what!" (Them?)

A dismal rain is falling. Inuyasha and the others are continuing their quest to find Naraku when they are approached by the King's soldiers. They offer a great deal of money if Sango and her demon slayers will kill the monster that is attacking their castle. Sango is hesitant wondering if there is a catch since the men are offering 10 to 20 times more than what is normally paid. She is about to refuse until a handsome man arrives. He dismounts from his horse saying, "Long time no see, Sango!" Sango does not remember him. He invites them all to his castle so they may talk.

The castle and its surroundings are beautiful. Once inside, the young man introduces himself as Takeda Kuranosuke. He remembers Sango and her family of demon exterminators slaughtering a demon that was attacking the castle six years ago. It was love at first sight. He asks her if she would kill the current menacing demon and then become his wife. Sango doesn't know what to say.

A short time later the group is given a lavish dinner. Sango is wondering what Miroku could be thinking. Wouldn't you know that lecherous Monk gets up and flirts with a female attendant.....Geez.... Luckily, the woman thought he was just joking around, but Sango is fuming. She gives him a good slap and angrily leaves the room. As she is walking, she runs right into Kuranosuke. They both Blush.

Meanwhile, matchmaker Kagome thinks this is the perfect opportunity to get Miroku to admit that he likes Sango. She tries different ploys, but he isn't taking the bait. Miroku's mind is set on investigating the castle grounds. He notices Sango and Kuranosuke walking together.

On a small bridge, Sango and Kuranosuke talk. Unbeknownst to them, Miroku and Kagome are eavesdropping not far away. Kuranosuke tells Sango he loves her, and formally asks her to be his wife. When Sango replies she is happy about that, Miroku (who was hiding behind a nearby bush) walks away. However, Sango tells the King she cannot get married, because there is something very difficult that must be done (images of Kohaku are shown). Kuranosuke says he is willing to wait for her. While all this is happening, Inuyasha and Shippo continue to gobble the delicious food.

Evening falls. Sango and Miroku are barely able to look at one another. Suddenly, one of the soldiers shouts, "MONSTER," and everyone comes running. Sango tells Inuyasha and the others to let her handle this for she is really angry. No one is going to argue with that. Sango is full of frustrated energy and attacks the demon with everything she's got. Inuyasha and the others watch in awe. When it appears that she has destroyed the demon, Sango proudly stands in front of it's body parts. But wait! This demon is not dead. The huge bear-like demon catches Sango off guard and is about to slice her in two. Miroku quickly carries her out of harms way, but gets slightly wounded in the process. (The King sees this.) Miroku tells Sango that this demon is a ghost and must be destroyed by other methods. Miroku uses his spiritual papers to rid the Earth of this beast.

The next day, the group finds a large storage area full of bear carvings from the beast Sango and her family defeated six years ago. Although they were told to destroy the remains, the prior King thought it would boost their economy if they made beast-like souvenirs and sold them. Hence the reason for the ghost. Kuranosuke has all the remains burned.

Inuyasha and crew are leaving. As Sango is bidding goodbye, Kuranosuke admits that he understands her feelings and wishes her well. He watches the group walk away thinking, "I haven't given up yet."

The final scenes show Miroku and Sango sharing an umbrella, because its rainy weather once again. Miroku makes his usual butt-grabbing move and gets his usual slap. However, this time Sango walks away smiling. (^_^)

Jaken's Plan to Steal the Tetusaiga

A bright full moon shines down on the Sesshomaru party. Rin's stomach begins to growl so Sesshomaru orders Jaken to accompany the young girl in finding food. On route Rin asks Jaken how he is useful to Sesshomaru? Unable to come with anything, Jaken declares he will get the Tetsusaiga and prove his worth.

The next day InuYasha and friends are playing rock, paper, scissors as they venture through the forest. Not far away Jaken has called for Muotoko (nothingness man). He asks the huge man to steal the Tetsusaiga from InuYasha. Not long after, Kagome and the others sense a presence. Suddenly, they are engulfed in a thick smoke. When the air clears, Kagome sees that the Shikon shards are missing. Deeper in the forest, Jaken is furious because Muotoko brought everything back but the sword. He sends him back to get THAT SWORD. Rin emerges from the brush and asks the small youkai if he should be using Muotoko. It's then that Jaken recalls the first time he met Sesshomaru. Seems Jaken was about to be lunch for a large demon until Sesshomaru showed up. Jaken was taken by Sesshomaru's looks and offered to be his servant. That's when Sesshomaru gave Jaken the staff of heads to take care of.

Meanwhile, Muotoko is making smoke from a campfire when Inuyasha and the others show up demanding he return the shards he has stolen. The dimwitted youkai tries to take the tetsusaiga from InuYasha but is repelled by its barrier. Shippo says that Muotoko is said to be the crystallization of the unfulfilled hopes of men who lost their homes and farms during the warring states period. Kagome feels sorry for him so they say they won't do anything if he returns the items he has stolen. He returns them willingly.

Since the plan using Muotoko didn't work out, Jaken decides to disguise himself as a sword sharpener. Unfortunately, everyone gives him their items to sharpen except InuYasha. Jaken works really hard sharpening the items in hopes that InuYasha will see how well they're done and offer up his sword. Too bad...when Kagome and the others return to get their items, Jaken is sound asleep from exhaustion. They leave the sleeping youkai a thank you note.

Evening falls, and it's time for a new plan. Jaken concocts a hot springs to lure in the men. (InuYasha wouldn't bring the sword into the hot springs now would he?) Jaken waits until the men enter the warm soothing water. He sneaks over to the tetsusaiga, but is unable to touch it without a shock. Since Inuyasha's clothing is nearby, Jaken uses it in order to take the tetsusaiga. At about the same time, Rin has gotten herself lost and flies overhead looking for Jaken. This alerts InuYasha and Miroku that Sesshomaru is close by. They immediately jump up, but become very dizzy (funny scene). Sango goes after them while Kagome gets the remaining clothes for the young hanyou.

Sango (riding Kirara) catches up to Jaken. They exchange attacks. The small demon hands Rin the sword and instructs her (on Aun) to take off. When Inuyasha and the others arrive, Rin becomes concerned for Jaken and rescues him, but she drops the sword in the process. Kagome notices the human child and ponders Sesshomaru's attachment to her.

With all his devious plans foiled Jaken accompanies Rin to gather food as was their first intention. Suddenly, Kagura appears! She attacks Jaken with a powerful wind attack and snatches Rin. Jaken screams for the young girl, but Kagura flies off with the child.

Uh, Oh! Sesshomaru's going to be mad about this! Don't miss the next exciting episode to see how he retaliates!

Sesshomaru and the Abducted Rin

The sound of crickets echo through the dark evening sky. Inuyasha, Kaede, and the others are sleeping. Suddenly, Inuyasha jumps to his feet and races outside. Kagome awakens and follows. Under a crimson moon Inuyasha informs Kagome that he has picked up Naraku's scent.

Not far off, a frantic Jaken tells Sesshomaru that Rin has been abducted. Before the dog demon has time to react, one of Naraku's Kugutsu (puppet manipulated by psychic powers) appears. It tells Sesshomaru that in order to get Rin back, he must kill Inuyasha. Sesshomaru sneers before destroying the puppet. "So much trouble for a trivial thing," he says, "does he really believe I will do whatever he says for one human girl?" Sesshomaru turns and walks away leaving Jaken to wonder if Rin will be abandoned. (The real Naraku is watching his every move through Kanna's mirror.)

Inuyasha, accompanied by the others, races to the core of Naraku's scent. At the same time Rin gains consciousness. She finds herself in a cabin surrounded by youkai. Kohaku has been told to keep an eye on her and prevent any escape. Rin warms up to Kohaku, but deep down she is scared. "Will Sesshomaru come to rescue me," she wonders.

Sesshomaru has made his way to Naraku's Fortress and for some reason the barrier easily opens for him. Sesshomaru knows that he was led there purposely. Truth is, he does not like to be ordered around and went to face Naraku in order to kill him.

Back in the forest, Inuyasha is running towards Naraku's scent when Kagome suddenly announces she is sensing a shikon shard somewhere around the nearby mountains. They resolve to separate...Inuyasha will continue to Naraku's fortress while Kagome and the others will seek out the shikon shard.

At the fortress, Naraku has shape-shifted into what Sesshomaru calls a mishmash of youkai scum. At the same time Sango, Kagome, and Miroku approach the mountain cabin. Inside Rin and Kohaku are enjoying some sweet melon and talking. Rin is surprised Kohaku cannot remember anything. She tells how she still sees vividly the murders of her own family by bandits. Their discussion is interrupted when Kohaku hears someone approaching. He douses the light and peers through a small opening. Emotions swim over him when he recognizes Sango face.

(Commercial time!)

Naraku's fortress has come alive with the sound of demon fighting demon. Sesshomaru, however, seems to be aware of Naraku's ultimate plan. (Naraku wants to absorb Sesshomaru to gain his powers.) With each slash of his sword more of Naraku's flesh lands on the dog demon. It's only a matter of time before Naraku's plan will succeed.

Meanwhile, Inuyasha has made his way to the barrier. With the tetsusaiga, he breaks through. Naraku sends Kagura to stop the intruder. However, when Kagura comes face to face with Inuyasha, she fights weakly. (The only reason she fought at all was because she was being watched by Naraku's poison insects.) It's not long before a swarm of demons relieves her of the trouble. Inuyasha shreds the attacking demons while Kagura looks on. She gazes back at the fortress thinking, "If Inuyasha can defeat Naraku, I will be free."

Will Naraku gain Sesshomaru's body? Can Inuyasha finally defeat this menace? Don't miss the next exciting episode!
