Toad Who Would Be Prince

Kagome is enjoying a swim in a small lake when a speedy white monkey grabs her clothes. The monkey takes the clothes to a boy who expected to find food and not Kagome's undergarments. InuYasha and Kagome approach the boy and demand the clothes back.

After a rocky start, the boy reveals his name as Nobunaga. At first Kagome is excited...thinking he is the famous Oda Nobunaga, but disappointment sets in when she learns he is simply Amari Nobunaga. The boy informs them that he is on a mission and walks off. InuYasha attempts a warning, but the clumsy Nobunaga falls from a small cliff (InuYasha Humor).

InuYasha and Kagome follow Nobunaga to find he is searching for Princess Tsuyu and believes she may be held against her will within a large castle. Seems the Lord of the castle has been summoning girls from the village and none of them have ever returned. They feel the Lord has been possessed by a demon.

Believing a Shikon shard may be involved, InuYasha and Kagome accompany Amari to the castle that evening. Soon they track down a sleeping Princess Tsuyu. She explains that the true Lord had fallen in the garden lake, become ill, and hasn't been the same. Suddenly, a frog-like man creature approaches. Myouga warns them the creature is the 300 year-old demon, Tsukomo. Kagome senses a Shikon shard in Tsukomo's shoulder. When a fight ensues, the demon gains the upper hand injuring Nobunaga and grabbing Princess Tsuyu. InuYasha gives chase.

They find Tsukomo in a room full of gel-like frog eggs. Within them are all of the girls from the village...and now that includes Tsuyu. Seems the demon keeps the girls in the eggs until their souls mature, and then he devours them. While InuYasha battles the creature, Nobunaga releases the Princess. A crushing blow from the tetsusaiga to the demon's head awakens the real Lord. He is remorseful, but unable to rid himself of the demon. Myouga tells Kagome that heat will work. A makeshift torch of hairspray and the flame of a candle rid the Lord of the demon possessing him. Princess Tsuyu is grateful that they have saved her Lord.

The next day the three are having lunch, but Amari is brooding. Although sad, he is thankful that a man's life was saved and his true love can live in happiness.
