Terror of the Ancient Noh Mask

Kagome returns to present day to study for exams. While at school, the presence of her Shikon shards trigger a fire at the Shrine. Grandpa is injured trying to prevent an ancient Noh Mask from escaping. It seems the mask was carved from a tree that contained a jewel shard. Will InuYasha arrive in time before the evil flesh eating Noh Mask devours Kagome, Sota, and all of Japan??? Will Kagome be able to get any studying in??? Watch the episode and you'll see!

The Soul Piper and The Mischievous Little Soul

Kagome arrives home just in time to catch Grandpa giving Hojo more fictitious excuses. However, today she does attend school. Afterwards she is enjoying ice cream with her friends when she notices a young girl in an overcoat cause a firecracker incident. Kagome confronts the child, but the indignant little girl disappears. Funny thing is...Kagome's friends couldn't see the youngster.

Back in the Feudal Era, InuYasha is waxing the Tetsusaiga when a flute is heard. Myouga explains that it's the Soul Piper, a normally friendly demon that plays with the souls of dead children until they pass on.

Later, Kagome takes Sota to see his friend Satoru who has been in a coma for 6 months...ever since his apartment caught fire killing his young sister, Mayu. Suddenly Kagome sees that same little girl cause Satoru's IV to shatter.

While heading home after their hospital visit, Sota tells Kagome weird things like that keep happening. Even Satoru's old apartment hasn't been touched because strange things occurred when the fire department tried to clean it up. Just then, Mayu confronts Kagome outside the gutted apartment after causing a large pot to crash to the ground scaring Sota. The little girl is intent on killing her brother, because she felt their mother loved him more. She warned Kagome not to interfere or she would be next. Overhead...the Soul Piper's eyes are opening slowly.

When Kagome returns to the Feudal Era, she discusses Mayu with Myouga and the others. He explained the if the child's soul becomes evil by holding on to feelings of hate and revenge, then the Soul Piper takes the child to hell. This will occur when the demon's eyes are completely open. Kagome is determined to help the girl, but InuYasha isn't so sure about this.

Back at the hospital Satoru's mother is stitching a pretty yukata (Japanese dress). Kagome runs into the women outside the hospital as she is leaving. Kagome learns that Mayu was upset with her mother for missing her school play to care for an ill Satoru. Mayu had run off. When the women returned from a quick run to the store and found the apartment in flames, she pulled Satoru to safety not knowing Mayu was inside as well. All of a sudden, glass shattered from the window of Satoru's hospital room. When Mayu's mother approached the room, the girl uses an energy force that sends the women flying into the wall. Then Mayu pushes her brother's bed out the window. Luckily, InuYasha arrived in time to save the boy. Uh Oh....the Soul Piper's eyes have opened wide!

In an effort to save Mayu from Hell, InuYasha and Kagome race to the girl's apartment...the site where she had died. Kagome reaches for Mayu, who is being dragged down to Satan's world. InuYasha is unable to help and fears Kagome may be pulled into Hell with the child. Kagome convinces Mayu to remember the good times and make amends. Mayu cries and admits that she really loves her mother....and with that, the Soul Piper removes his grip.

A few days later Mayu appears outside Kagome's balcony. She is wearing the beautiful yukata that her mother made for her. She thanks Kagome and returns to Heaven....where her spirit belongs.

NOTE: This was such a bittersweet episode. I get choked up every time I see it.

The Mystery of The New Moon and The Black Haired InuYasha

Kagome's in a hurry and promises her friends to help with school clean up next time. Upon exiting, she runs right into Hojo who has brought her another item for her so-called illnesses. Hojo asks Kagome to a movie on Saturday, and she shyly accepts (first date jitters).

Back in the Feudal Era....InuYasha, Kagome, and Shippo set out on a small boat to search for jewel shards. While Shippo hangs off the side of the boat feeling seasick, Kagome asks if they can be back by Saturday. InuYasha says he thinks so and then asks "What exactly is Saturday?"...*chuckles*. Up ahead, InuYasha notices spider webs stretching across the river. Suddenly, a young girl plunges from a nearby cliff. InuYasha saves her but gets a less than grateful thank you from the young girl called Nazuna. Seems her parents were killed by a spiderhead causing her to detest all demons. When Nazuna attempts to leave, she injures her ankle. Kagome insists they help her back home.

As the group approaches a large temple where Nazuna resides, they are greeted by an old priest. He strongly urges them to stay and rest for the evening and InuYasha (hesitating) agrees. After the sun goes down, InuYasha becomes nervous and claims he will sleep outside. Once outside, he discovers they are surrounded by Spiderheads...so much for the sutra's that the priest claims to have placed. Nazuna runs to locate the old priest, but finds him covered in webbing. InuYasha tries to fight, however, the tetsusaiga is not transforming. The young dog demon is half covered in webbing when the group flee the temple.

Temporarily safe in the woods, Kagome pulls the webbing off InuYasha to find he has black hair and no dog ears....."he is human!" Myoga explains that half demons lose their supernatural powers at the start of each month when the moon is invisible. Kagome becomes upset that InuYasha didn't open up and tell her. Suddenly, there is a rustle in the bushes startling Shippo. It's Nazuna. She begs InuYasha to return to the Temple and save her master (a.k.a. the priest). At about the same time Kagome squeals....she has left her bag carrying the Shikon shards back at the Temple. InuYasha gives Kagome the tetsusaiga, grabs Shippo, and heads back.

InuYasha arrives back at the Temple to find the priest taking the shards and evolving to a hideous spider demon. It binds InuYasha with his webbing and proceeds to pierce the poor hanyou's shoulder with a deadly poisonous bite. Kagome and Nazuna arrive and see the old priest's betrayal. Myoga tells Kagome that InuYasha has been poisoned. InuYasha is losing consciousness, but the last thing he sees is a brave and tearful Kagome breaking through the webbing with the help of the tetsusaiga. The group escapes to a small room thrusting the tetsusaiga into the door to ward off demons.

Once inside, Myoga draws out as much poison as he can within InuYasha. Kagome notices InuYasha is dripping in a feverous sweat and places her handkerchief on his forehead. He awakens and weakly asks her why she had been crying? He is touched that she shed tears for him and asks if he could lay on her lap. Resting his head on her lap, InuYasha admitted she smelled good and he was lying when he said she didn't. He drifts off to sleep. Kagome's heart pounds unsure of the emotions she is feeling.

It's not long before the priest spider demon breaks into the room devouring any remaining jewel shards and becoming even more powerful. An angry Nazuna grabs the tetsusaiga and attempts an attack.....not working....the demon grabs her and the tetsusaiga falls to the ground. InuYasha has awakened and picks up the tetsusaiga just as the sun is slowly rising. The evil priest spider grabs InuYasha only to find his demon days are over!!! The spider demon is destroyed releasing the jewel shards which have now fused together into one.

Later Nazuna apologizes to InuYasha and says goodbye. As they venture down the river again, Kagome stares at InuYasha and recalls his behavior the night before. When the boy hanyou retracts with another sarcastic remark, Kagome just rolls her eyes and comments how he's back to his old self.....
