Kagome's Voice and Kikyo's Kiss

As Kikyo sleeps peacefully in a tree surrounded by her soul-stealers, Kagome approaches gingerly. Kikyo awakens and is surprised the young girl was able to get through her barrier. The bitter Priestess binds Kagome to a tree with the help of her soul-stealers. She asks Kagome, "What is InuYasha to you?"

Not far away, InuYasha is unable to get through the barrier. Kagome (still bound) tries to reason with Kikyo. She explains it was Naraku's trickery that caused her death....not InuYasha. Kikyo doesn't want to hear it...she wants InuYasha to join her in death so he will never ever forget her. She opens the barrier letting the hanyou through.

InuYasha is relieved to see that Kikyo survived the fall from the cliff, but also realizes it is she who has been taking the souls of the dead. (The boy is unable to hear or see Kagome.) Kikyo explains her need for the dead souls. While Kagome watches, InuYasha expresses his feeling towards Kikyo. The Priestess embraces and kisses InuYasha in a manner that renders the boy unconscious. The ground separates below the two and they begin to sink into the depths of Hell. Kagome shouts for Kikyo to "STOP"....."InuYasha wants to live!" Just before being pulled into Hell completely, InuYasha awakens finding Kagome in danger. He destroys the soul-stealers and releases her. Kikyo disappears after reaffirming her feeling for him when they kissed.

A hurt and rejected Kagome tells InuYasha she heard and saw everything and is going home. A confused InuYasha has no idea what he did wrong. Meanwhile Kikyo visits Kaede in an effort to learn more about Naraku. Kikyo is saddened when she learns that Kagome has softened InuYasha...for that is what she had hoped to do if things had worked out for them.

When Kagome passes through the well, she realizes that she forgot her bag. Upon returning she overhears Miroku stating that if InuYasha wanted to have both women, he'd have to be careful. WHAT!?! "SIT!!!!!!!"
