It's drawing late on a sunny day, and the Inuyasha group have come upon a Village surrounded by flowers. The strong scent causes Shippo and Kirara to sneeze. The Villagers offer them a house built for travelers so they may take refuge for the night.

When night falls everyone tries to get some rest, but Inuyasha is unable to sleep. He's afraid he'll dream of Kikyo. Suddenly, they notice something is amiss. Villagers are walking through the flowers like zombies. Tears stained in blood fall from their eyes as the vines from the earth twist around them. Miroku uses his sacred papers, which destroys the vines and flowers, but the people have become part of the earth.

The Flower Prince appears. He is able to read people's hearts, and see their sorrow. Sango sees a vision of Kohaku and loses consciousness. "Kaze no Kizu," Inuyasha cries trying to stop the Prince. The man disappears leaving traces of blood behind. Inuyasha goes after him but Miroku warns him that this flower Prince appears to feed on sorrow and pain. Before Kagome can go after Inuyasha, Miroku hands her some beads saying they are of demon repulsion.

Not far off Kanna throws Kagura's fan into a lake wishing her goodbye. She turns to see Byakuya in a tree nearby. "Naraku wants you to lure Inuyasha's group in and unleash the mirror." he tells her.

Back at the Village, Inuyasha and Kagome arrive at the Flower Prince's home. He stands before them saying he is not injured and the blood was a way to draw them to him. Your soul is a wreck he says before changing the color of the flowers surrounding Inuyasha to blood red. The young half demon is unable to move. The vines pull him down into the ground like quicksand before Kagome can do anything about it. The vines attempt to grab her as well, but the demon repulsion beads prevent that from happening.

Inside the home, the Flower Prince watches Inuyasha cry tears of blood while dreaming of his beloved Kikyo. Outside, Kagome is shooting her sacred arrows at the barrier surrounding the home while shouting Inuyasha's name. Hearing his name, Inuyasha awakens. He breaks free from the vines and fights with the Flower Prince. In doing so, the Prince's true form as a vine-like demon is revealed. As Inuyasha is fighting the demon, one of Kagome's arrows carrying the demon repulsion beads lands close by and appears to destroy the demon Prince. Inuyasha goes racing out and finds Kagome covered in vines. She collapses in his arms.

"I never noticed it before, but that girl's soul has a magnificent taste! That girl is hurting more than you are!" the demon says appearing once again. Inuyasha is surprise that this demon is still alive! Both Kagome and Inuyasha work together and finally destroy him. He will not be peaking into the hearts of people any more! Once he is destroyed, all of the flowers disappear. Before returning to the others, Inuyasha apologizes to Kagome for holding everything in and not noticing that she was hurting as well.

The next day, the group are on the move again. Some villagers tell them that there's a bright light all around the lake. Once there, they notice that the lake has been transformed into a mirror. A huge mirror demon emerges with Kanna nearby. As a mirror, it is able to create a tetsusaiga of it's own and even steal its demonic energy. None of Inuyasha's attacks work, but they do for the mirror demon. Realizing they are helpless, Shippo sets up a smoke screen so they can escape.

Kanna walks through the forest with her mirror demon. It hands her a pretty white flower. "Flowers wither and lose their hue, much as I, reflect in vain time lost to the long rain." she says sadly before crushing the flower in her hand.
