INUYASHA THE FINAL ACT

Kanna's Gravestone

After the attack from the mirror demon, Inuyasha's group find refuge in a cave surrounded by a barrier. It appears that tetsusaiga's demonic energy was captured by the mirror. Their only alternative is to fight against the tetsusaiga.

As Kanna approaches the cave with the mirror demon, she thinks of Kagura. Once there, Byakuya of the Dreams walks up asking her how it's going. They watch from a short distance as the demon shatters the cave's barrier with the red tetsusaiga. When Kagome shoots one of her sacred arrows, the demon is not phased, however, Kanna is wounded in the exact spot the arrow would have pierced the demon. Kanna orders the demon to attack with adamant barrage. Inuyasha desperately tries to stop the attack with his powerless tetsusaiga. To everyone's surprise the spears from the attack seemed to avoid them, which can only mean that tetsusaiga's protective barrier has kicked in.

The previous attack resulted in Inuyasha's demon blood taking over, but his mind remained intact. While the half demon and mirror demon continue to fight, Kanna's body takes every amount of damage that Inuyasha administers to the demon. (Elsewhere, Naraku is watching everything taking place!) Deep into the fight Kagome and the others notice that Kanna is taking all the injuries, but she persists. Both the tetsusaiga and Kanna are cracking away until Inuyasha strikes a blow that almost splits the sword of the mirror demon. The power sends the young half demon flying. When he gains his faculties, Inuyasha finds that the tetsusaiga has recovered its demonic energy. The fight is over. Inuyasha tells Kanna to scram not wanting to finish her off. They know that Naraku is controlling her every move.

While watching from a distance, Naraku begins to crush Kanna's existence (Multi faceted glowing orb) in his hand. He orders her to get closer to the others to perform one final job. Kanna stands her ground trying to tell Kagome something just before she and the mirror demon shatter in an explosion of sharp glass fragments. Inuyasha grabs Kagome, but one tiny fragment lands in her eye. The tetsusaiga forms a barrier to protect them. Kagome clasps her eye in pain until she hears Kanna's voice. "Light will kill Naraku," the voice says. Then Kagome has a vision of a light coming from the defiled Shikon jewel. Once the smoke clears there is nothing left but debris.

"Aw, poor thing. Naraku's got a cruel streak in him. I should be careful," Byakuya says before flying off on one of his origami birds. (Did he just figure that out??)

From the rubble, Inuyasha picks up a shattered mirror left behind. Tears fall from Kagome's injured eye dislodging the fragment. She tells the others that Kanna did not want to die, and that is why she conveyed her final words to me. "Kanna, I was able to hear your heart's last wish," Kagome says sadly.
