INUYASHA THE FINAL ACT

True Heir

Inuyasha and group have remained with Rin, Kohaku, and Jaken until Sesshomaru shows up. Just earlier, Byakuya of the Dreams had given Sesshomaru the fragment from Kanna's mirror demon. He was told that if you shatter the fragment and spread it over Tenseiga's blade, you will be able to capture Tetsusaiga's abilities.

As the elder brother approaches, he orders his younger sibling to draw his sword. Seeing he is serious, Inuyasha draws his sword and orders the Wind Scar. To his surprise nothing happens except that Sesshomaru's Tenseiga picks up the attack. When he sees that Kagome, Rin and the others are interfering, Byakuya sends the two brothers to a place without interruption. Inside a moon shaped orb full of demons, they embark on a test of strength. "Prove that you, and not I, are the rightful heir to Tetsusaiga," Sesshomaru demands.

On Earth, Kagome worries. Suddenly, the sky becomes black and Master Totosai appears. The cow-like beast he rides on is able to project what is going on between the two brothers.

Returning to the orb, Inuyasha has changed into his demon form. Sesshomaru mocks that it must have been out of desperation. However, the demonic energy has helped Inuyasha become stronger. Seeing that Tetsusaiga's power wants to return to Inuyasha, Sesshomaru hits him with a direct Meido Zangetsuha. Feeling Inuyasha is unable to escape, he angrily throws the Tenseiga into the Meido path to the Underworld. He, however, is unaware that Inuyasha is beginning to understand the Tetsusaiga's desires.

Floating in the Meido's path, Inuyasha grasps what the Tetsusaiga is trying to tell him. Elsewhere, Naraku watches with the help of Byakuya. Surprised, he sees that Inuyasha has cut through his own demon vortex. Inuyasha's demonic energy begins to eat into the path of the Underworld. Totosai says this means the two swords are trying to become one.

Seeing Inuyasha has just become stronger, Naraku takes control of Sesshomaru's abandoned Tenseiga. He attacks with a barrage of knife-like blades.... two of which pierce Inuyasha's back and begin to release miasma. Sesshomaru sees this, jumps in, and reclaims his sword. Naraku gives control back, saying Sesshomaru can finish him off himself. The elder dog demon realizes who the rightful heir is. Even so, the two fight until the Tensaiga is broken in two, and the Tetsusaiga absorbs it's powers turning into a black blade. The two have become one.

Naraku is sure they cannot escape from the Path to the Underworld, and decides to finish Inuyasha off with miasma. Sesshomaru removes the blades from his unconscious younger sibling's back and gives him a good slug. "It's up to you to free us," he tells an awakened Inuyasha. Inuyasha sees a light and wields the Tetsusaiga at it, and with that, the two return to the real world.

Before a disgruntled Sesshomaru leaves, Totosai points out that the Tenseiga has also returned intact, but Sesshomaru is unwilling to take it. Rin and Kohaku grab the Tenseiga and follow Sesshomaru saying they will give it to him when he is in a better mood.

Inuyasha asks Totosai what will happen to Sesshomaru now that he's lost everything their father gave him. "Sesshomaru hasn't realized it yet, but he's one step away from obtaining a weapon of his own that didn't come from his father." Totosai replies.
