INUYASHA THE FINAL ACT

Kagura's Wind

Kagura flies away remembering how Inuyasha said he'd get her heart back. She hopes to somehow escape Naraku's grasp. Not too far off, Sango and Kohaku put flowers on their father's grave. Kohaku just cannot forgive himself.

Meanwhile, Inuyasha, Kagome, and Miroku approach Midoriko's cave. (Recall that Midoriko is the priestess who fought the demons hundreds of years ago. The crystallization of her soul is the Shikon Jewel.) Inside they find that the center of her figure is glowing and a barrier has been erected. Is this a bad omen or could that barrier be pure?

The next scene switches to Koga, who wants to get his hands on the Goraishi (Lightning Claws), the strongest weapon known to the wolf-demon tribe. To do that, he must enter an ancient burial ground.

Back at the cave, Inuyasha has stayed behind to keep guard. When a soul collector emerges from Midorika's figure, the young half demon gives chase. He finds Kikyo standing under a waterfall. The priestess shows him the wound Naraku inflicted at Mount Hakurei. She tells him she needed Midoriko's soul to aid her in defeating Naraku. Without it, his miasma would cause her to return to bone and ash.

Once Kikyo absorbs the soul, other events begin to happen. Kohaku's shard begins to glow, and he is drawn to Kikyo. The others, however, are left behind unable to get through a barrier. Even Koga's shards began to glow. Kikyo explains what must be done to defeat Naraku. The jewel must be completed and purified in order to destroy Naraku's soul. Inuyasha realizes that this means death for Kohaku.

Elsewhere Moryomaru defeats the demon Meioju in order to obtain his shell, which is said to be the ultimate armor.

Returning to Koga; they have spotted the Goraishi, but Koga must continuously fight a three headed wolf-like beast that keeps regenerating. When Koga must make a choice between saving Ginta and Hakkaku or grabbing the Goraishi, he chooses to save his comrades. Because of this act, he gained the Goraishi and defeated the beast.

Drifting through the skies, to her horror, Kagura comes face to face with Naraku. He tells her that Hakudoshi was a fool to attempt to overthrow him. Then he returned her heart, but in doing so, punctured her body with his sharp branchlike claws and pumped a full load of miasma into her! "Now you can go where ever you want," he says with a grin, "Enjoy what little time you have left to live."

"Lord Sesshomaru, the demonic aura from the crystal is weakening," Jaken says. It's Moryomaru! The two battle with Sesshomaru struggling. The new armor is very powerful and the demonic energy is making Moryamaru even stronger. It's only when Sesshomaru picks up the scent from the dying Kagura that things turn around. With the swift attack, "Azure Dragon Wave!" Sesshomaru sends Moryomaru running again. Unfortunately, in the battle, the Tokijin is broken in two.

In a beautiful field, Kagura sits waiting to die. The miasma is causing her body to slowly disintegrate. "Does it end here," she wonders, "This is the freedom I sought?"

Suddenly, Sesshomaru appears before her. "I followed the scent of blood and miasma," he said.
"Are you disappointed it wasn't Naraku?" Kagura asks sadly.
" I knew it was you," Sesshomaru says reaching for his sword but hesitating. "Even tenseiga cannot save her," He realizes and asks, "Are you leaving?"
"Yeah, it's enough," Kagura answers. I saw you... one last time...were her thoughts just before fully disappearing.

Inuyasha's group arrived right after. "Did Kagura suffer?" the young half demon asked his brother.
"She was smiling..." he told them before leaving.

As a lone feather blows about amidst pure white petals,
Kagura's voice can be heard echoing through the air,
"I am the wind....the free wind."
