INUYASHA THE FINAL ACT

The Great Holy Demon Spirit's Test

The episode opens with Kohaku approaching Kikyo and offering himself and his shard to her. "You are not afraid of death," she asks him. "I am not," he responds. The two walk away together with Kikyo wishing she could heal his soul if circumstances were different.

Elsewhere, Koga has informed Ginta and Hakkaku that he is separating from them to chase Naraku. He feels it is too dangerous. Before racing off, he flirts with Kagome, causing Inuyasha to take a swing at him. (Some things never change ^_^)

Amidst the dark clouds, the demons Kinka and Ginka are fighting. Moryomaru watches from a distance. He is told by the Infant Naraku that obtaining the power of their strong bond will strengthen the link between him and his shell. He flies into the clouds to face them.

Meanwhile, Shippo has found Totosai and brought him back to check on Inuyasha's sword. "Tetsusaiga has hurt Inuyasha," Shippo informs him, "That has never happened before." Totosai looks at the sword and tells Inuyasha that there is nothing wrong with it. The problem is with him. Apparently, Inuyasha doesn't have the power to restrain the energy absorbed by the Tetsusaiga. He tells the young half demon that he must become stronger to handle a stronger Tetsusaiga and recommends a visit to the Great Holy Demon Spirit. He's like the demon version of a wise hermit.

Returning to Moryomaru: Kinka and Ginka are strong but Moryomaru tricks them by faking death. With their guard down, they are easily defeated and consumed. Just as his feet touch the ground (if you can call them feet??), Sesshomaru stands ready to defeat him and his new power. "Meido Zandetsuha!" Sesshomaru yells. An opening to the Underworld appears, but Moryomaru is able to escape with Byakuya's help.

The remaining minutes of the episode show Inuyasha and group finding the Great Holy Demon Spirit, Yorei-Taisei, but he is just an empty body. He tells them an evil spirit sucked out his guts and is causing villagers' appearance to be altered by magic so he can hide among them. He asks Inuyasha to find the Demon and destroy it so the village can go back to normal. Unfortunately, he puts a seal on the Tetsusaiga to prevent Inuyasha from cutting down everything in sight. This makes it more difficult for the young half demon.

When a young boy inadvertently leads them to the snake demon guilty of the gut-sucking, Yorei-Taisei tells Inuyasha to look for the demon vortex (swirls of demonic energy). It's when Kagome is in danger that Inuyasha sees the vortices and is able to determine the right one to destroy due to its scent. However, Tetsusaiga's seal is not broken, which means the real demon has yet to be defeated.

Racing through the village, Inuyasha smells that familiar scent again. This time he comes face to face with a large horned Ox Ogre demon. Using logic and his sense of smell, Inuyasha is able to determine the real demon vortex. Once he sliced through it, everything returned to normal. That's when Yorei-Taisei admitted everything was an illusion and training test. He passed, however, the Great Holy Demon Spirit knows that there is one last form of the Tetsusaiga, and Inuyasha must discover that on his own.
