INUYASHA THE FINAL ACT

Sesshomaru in the Underworld

It's the morning after Kikyo's death and Sesshomaru appears to be looking for something. Jaken and Rin are bewildered when Sesshomaru suddenly takes to the sky changing into his dog demon form in pursuit of another dog demon. When the two land and transform, the group are surprised to learn that the other beautiful white dog was Sesshomaru's mother. "You must have questions about the Tenseiga your father left you, if you've come to visit your mother." she says.

Elsewhere Ginta and Hakkaku have come to join up with Koga. The young head of the wolf tribe has made the decision to leave Inuyasha and the others. He does not want to hold them back now that his shards are gone. A sullen Inuyasha says, "so you're going to leave us too." Koga tries to smack some sense into the half demon, and soon Inuyasha is acting more like himself. Koga gives Kagome a long hug and bids farewell. He runs off quickly even without his shards causing Ginta and Hakkaku to give chase just like in the past.

Meanwhile, Sesshomaru, Jaken, Rin and Kohaku have been taken to his mother's lavish lair. "Sesshomaru, did you not despise humans? Yet you have two human children with you, do you intend to eat them?" she questions. He ignores her question and asks if father had told her how to use the Tenseiga to open the path to the Underworld. She told him that she was just left this Meido Stone.   She uses the stone to summon a hound from the Underworld. "Meido Zangetsuha!" Sesshomaru shouts attempting to destroy the beast. " It's nowhere near a full moon." his mother responds, "It appears that your sword cannot cause harm nor bring good." Suddenly the hound swallows Rin and Kohaku and disappears into the Underworld. Sesshomaru follows it inside not heeding his mother's warnings. Apparently no one can return alive from the Underworld after the path has closed.

Inside the Underworld, Sesshomaru follows a path. He finds the hound and destroys it using healing Tenseiga. Kohaku awakens thanks to the shikon shard, but Rin isn't breathing.

Outside the Underworld, Sesshomaru's mother watches everything taking place. She says Rin may be revived if Sesshomaru uses the Tenseiga to cut down the Guardian of the Underworld. But the Guardian is beyond the darkness, and no one has ever returned from there.

Back inside, Rin's body is swept into the darkness. As Sesshomaru follows Rin's scent, his mother offers a path out, but both Sesshomaru and Kohaku will not leave without Rin. Continuing to follow the darkness, the wind picks up and the Guardian has come into view. He has Rin in his ugly grasp. Kohaku stays behind while Sesshomaru walks towards a mountain of corpses. He cuts down the Guardian, but Rin is still dead. Seems because she was revived once before by the Tenseiga, she cannot be saved again. When Sesshomaru drops the Tenseiga and conveys his feelings for Rin, the sword begins to glow. The corpses are drawn to the sword. Sesshomaru picks up the Tenseiga purifying the poor souls.

Moments later, "Meido Zangetsuha," Sesshomaru cries, and he and the children exit a much larger path then before. Sesshomaru's mother notices how dejected her son is feeling. "Did you know this would happen to Rin?" he asks her. She tells him that Tenseiga can only call a person back from the dead once. She then adds his father wanted him to learn the desire to save the life of a loved one, and the sorrow and fear which accompany that loss.

"Your father said the Tenseiga is a sword for healing. You may wield it as a weapon, but you must value life and possess a compassionate heart if you are to bury your enemies," she tells him. Seeing Sesshomaru's sadness, his mother places the Meido stone on Rin. There is a bright light as Rin's life returns from the Underworld. To everyone's joy, the little girl opens her eyes. "You're fine now." Sesshomaru says caressing her cheek. Jaken thanks the women profusely.

As Sesshomaru is leaving, his mother calls down to Kohaku. She questions how it is that he was able to survive the Underworld. "My life is sustained by the shikon shard," he tells her. She informs him that the Tenseiga cannot save him. "I understand," the boy responds.

Returning to Kagome, she has told everyone Kikyo's words ... to protect Kohaku's light. Hopefully, with his shard, they may still have a chance to defeat Naraku. The group set out to find the boy.
