As announced previously, the complete Digimon 1st Season is now available on store shelves. I received my copy last week and started watching a few episodes this weekend. Talk about great memories. Here’s the disappointing part; this release looks as if someone simply recorded the episodes from their airing on Fox Kids and cleaned off commercials and the Station’s logo. There are about 3 or 4 pauses for each episode….exactly when commercials aired. When comparing the DVD’s to the old VHS tapes released, one can easily see the increase in breaks during the episode. Also, any editing made for TV are reflected on these DVD’s as well. Just wanted to give potential buyers a heads up. All in all, it’s great to have a complete set, and the nostalgia is priceless.

Here are some exciting recent announcements: AniplexUSA has licensed Sword Art Online, Magi, and Blast of Tempest. No guarantees on a dub, but you can bet the packaging will be special. Then Funimation announced plans to release Toriko (in January 2013) and Wolf Children (in 2013). NIS America added Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko anime to their growing library. Not likely that the latter will have a dub.

The Fall season in Japan included the Monsuno series. I must admit that the voice of Bren in Japanese is so much better than the English voice. Sorry Chris Smith (English voice of Bren). If you'd like to see/hear the Japanese version, then check out Monsuno Project. NOTE: New episodes of Monsuno resume this Friday, October 12th at 10:00pm on Nicktoons.

Of the new season, Sentai has picked up the following for simulcast and/or DVD release: Hidamari Sketch × Honeycomb, Medaka Box Abnormal, Chunibyo Demo Koi Ga Shitai, Girls und Panzer, From the New World, Btooom, and Busou Shinki.....WOW! We may hear more from The New York ComicCon that is coming up next weekend.

The new Fall season starts next week in Japan. The series I'm looking forward to the most is Psycho Pass. Want to know why???? It's because Uryu needed a job while Bleach is on Hiatus...so he changed his name to Nobuchika and is working on the Police Force of Psycho Pass. Ha, ha....just kidding.

The new action series, Scan2Go, began airing on Cartoon Network in September. It's a Japanese and Korean collaboration that has character designs very similar to Beyblade/Beywheelz. The series is about a racing competition that takes place throughout outer space. Competitors from every galaxy are hoping to become the number one racer in the Universe!

The Scan2Go cars are already showing up at local toy stores. I had to go to a nephew's birthday party this weekend and picked one up for his gift. I'm tempted to pick one up for myself since they look like fun. Each toy comes with a couple of power cards that can be scanned to boost the car's performance. Fun stuff!

In acquisition news; Sentai filmworks picked a few good series at Animaine. Mawaru Penguindrum, the Ninja Scroll (J?bei Ninp?ch?) film, and the first season of Letter Bee (Tegami Bachi) were announced. Nice!
