Mobile Suit Gundam Wing a.k.a Shin Kido Senki Gundam W made its debut in Japan airing from April, 1995 to March, 1996. The series consists of 49 TV episodes, a 3 episode OAV, and dozens of Manga. In North America, Gundam Wing was a fan favorite both with males and females due to the Mecha and their pretty-boy pilots (*snickers* is that why I like it...come on, I'm not that shallow...or am I? ^_~).

The basic storyline behind Gundam Wing is a common one that exists in most of the Gundam series. Who or what shall rule the human inhabited space colonies? In this series, the year is AC (after colony) 195, and Earth has been ravaged with the effects of war. It took a century of hard work, but man was able to build huge rotating wheel-like structures known as colonies. For years these colonies posed as a haven for those wanting to flee from earth. When a new government took its position calling itself the "United Earth Sphere Alliance," control of the colonies was seized. Those who resisted were stopped by any means the Alliance felt justified, which usually meant death. In a effort to regain freedom and peace, the colonies send five young Gundam pilots to Earth to wage war against their oppressors.

This anime can get a bit confusing at times especially during long, difficult speeches by high ranking dignitaries. In addition, there are a number of plot twists which leaves the viewer wondering just who is friend and who is foe. Aside from that, expect to be drawn in by the beautiful animation and soundtrack. Just sit back and enjoy.
