Chapter Three: The Fight
“Hush, you’ll wake the others. And I don’t need to talk if you ask me a yes or no question.” answered the girl as she turned and started walking down the hall.
“6:00AM don’t be late.” Force shouted after her.
The girl lifted her hand in a waving gesture.
Force wondered how well she fought without her EX. He watched her disappear behind a corner and listened to her footsteps fade. He then turned and headed down the opposite way towards his dorm. He couldn’t wait to tell Sure and the others. If she was anything like how she fought in the simulation then this was gonna be one vicious battle.
Force entered the room with a grin on his face.
“What’s up?” asked Sure.
“Where’d you go?” asked Yashimo.
“What were you doing?” asked #05.
“I just challenged the new girl to a match in the fencing arena. I’m sure I can beat her but after seeing her in the simulation I know I’m in for one hell of a battle.” He said punching his closed fist into his other hand.
“Go to sleep.” Said Aracd Sleepily.
“Party pooper.” Mumbled Force but went to sleep anyway.
5:39AM…
There were 21 minutes ‘till the fight. Skai walked through the gym doors, tied up her hair so it wouldn’t get in the way, and began to exercise. She practised her gymnastics and dance moves to help her defences. After a while she hung her towel over her shoulder and headed to the fencing arena. When she got there she picked up a rapier and began to practise. 5 minutes left and others were starting to gather ‘round. She had seen Force a while ago but paid no attention to him. He was getting geared up now but Skai didn’t budge. He walked onto the floor and she faced him. She saluted him and got into her fighting pose.
“Aren’t you going to put any gear on?” asked Force in a matter-of-factly way.
“I thought it would be better if I didn’t. Then I could move more freely.” Replied Skai matching his tone.
This angered Force but he would find out later that she was right.
Sure stood near by and Force nodded to him. “Ready?” Sure asked. “Set?” the two gripped their rapiers tightly. “Fight!”
Force lunged ferociously. Skai jumped over him while doing a flip thus scratching him with her rapier. Force wheeled around and took no notice of the blood seeping through the fresh wound.
“First blood drawn.” Smiled Skai. She didn’t really want to fight him but he had insisted on it and she needed to show him she wasn’t as weak as he thought she was. She needed to prove she was stronger than him so she kept on fighting.
Force lunged again and again just barely scratching her each time. After a good 5 minutes had passed and the crowd had grown, Gare and Erts were part of it. Force was getting tired and Skai knew it. Both had drawn blood, Force with his left arm stabbed and other various cuts here and there, and Skai with her left arm injured her left leg leaking blood and many cuts all up her back and arms. Azuma was also in the crowd, just watching the awesome match.
She won’t scream! Women are supposed to scream when they get hurt! “Why don’t you just give up?” asked Force breathing heavier than how he had started.
“I think you just want me to surrender because you’re tired.” Smirked Skai.
“How dare you!” spat Force and he lunged again.
Skai, dodging Forces’ attack, jumped up and pushed off his back driving him into the ground with the weight of her body and the strength in her push, while landing perfectly herself. Getting up while shaking his head, Force spun around hoping to hit her legs but meeting nothing but air.
Skai was crouched behind him and, using her good leg, tripped Force. He fell backwards and knew it was over. Just before he fell on top of Skai, she kicked him towards the wall and he landed a few feet away from her. The crowd of people started clapping but she ignored them. Skai got up and limped over to Forces’ motionless body. She crouched down while looking at his face and knew it was over. As she stood up she checked her wounds and saw blood gushing out of her arm and leg. Her eyes widened and her vision became blurred. The room started spinning and she tried to stay awake but she started to fall, she hit her head and blacked out…
Skai woke up with a sore head, pain screaming all over her body and a blurry memory of the past week she’d spent in the infirmary. Yesterday she was so tired and weak from blood loss that she couldn’t move at all. She looked at Dr. Croford and asked quietly, making an effort to do so, “Is Force okay?”
Startled the Doctor looked up from her papers with a stunned look. Her face relaxed and she smiled. “It’s nice to see you awake again. Force is fine, he got out just a few hours after he came to the infirmary. Him and Aracd have been visiting every day so far while you were sleeping. Do you want to see your fight on video? Somebody taped it and we caught it on the security camera but we got there too late and you had both passed out.”
Skai nodded and looked at the TV in the corner of her room. She watched every move each had made. It was an amazing battle. When it was over Skai closed her eyes and fell asleep effortlessly. How was she to help the goddess pilots now?
