Hey there, everyone! Sora’s back in the house! I got such encouraging feedback that I decided to post my second fic. Contrary to my first fic, this is AU, taking place in present day Japan, and all our fave characters are in Highschool! I don’t know if everyone will like it, but my own personal critic, (my cousin Satsuma) told me it was awesome, so here it is. Please read and enjoy.

Disclaimer: Must I? I don’t own RK or any of Nobuhiro Watsuki sensei’s characters. But I do own a couple of characters. I’ll leave it to you guys to figure it out. Now, on with the show.

Rurouni Kenshin Highschool Madness!

By Sora Himura

Chapter 1: The meeting

“Oh, no! I’m gonna be late for school!” yelled Kaoru Kamiya, slamming her hand down on the alarm clock and jumping out of bed. She had recently moved in to her cousin Sayo’s house in Tokyo, after her parent’s death, and she had to transfer to Silver Star High in the second semester (January). Today was her first day and she didn’t know anybody or anything about it except that she was in group 11 B and her homeroom teacher was Professor Hajime Saitoh. She hoped to make some friends today, since she was new in the neighborhood. Kaoru jumped into the shower and squealed at how cold the water was. Then she quickly put on her school uniform and literally flew down the stairs.

“Yahiko, have you seen my bag?” she asked her younger brother Yahiko as she dashed into the kitchen. Yahiko made a face at her and threw her bag at the front door.

“There it is. Now hurry up or you’re gonna be late, ugly.” He said taunting her. Kaoru had to hold herself from slamming Yahiko on the head with her kendo shinai, but made a mental note to get back at him later. She quickly brushed her long raven black hair and tied it up in a high ponytail with her favorite indigo ribbon.

“Bye, Yahiko. Sayo must be at school already.” (Sayo went to a different school. She was a year older than Kaoru, which meant she was in 12th grade.) Kaoru started for school. If she kept up this pace, she would arrive 6 minutes before the bell rang. She was thinking so hard that she was going to be late that she didn’t see what was in front of her and literally ran into a boy on a skateboard. They both ended on the floor swirly-eyed and seeing little birdies.

“Stupid skater…” thought Kaoru. She had never liked skaters much. They were all the same. All hanging out in the same group, listening to rap music, bugging other people. Of course, she thought some were handsome, but she wasn’t the kind of girl that liked guys because of what’s outside, but of how they are inside. But that didn’t mean she had once had skater friends. It was just… something that had happened between her and a skater. Obviously she promptly apologized.

“I’m really sorry. Are you alright?” she asked the boy.

“I’m good. Are you okay? We took a pretty nasty fall, that we did.” He answered.

(Gee…I wonder who it is…)

For the first time Kaoru really saw him. He had long wild red hair tied up in a low ponytail. He had a cross-shaped scar on his left cheek, and behind his bangs you could see awesome violet eyes. His unbuttoned shirt revealed his muscular chest and hard abs. Kaoru blushed. He was CUTE!!!!!! But she snapped out of it. What if he was the same? He didn’t SEEM bad, but…

“I’m alright. It was really my fault, …um…”

“Himura. I’m Kenshin Himura.”

“I ran into you, Himura-san. I’m really sorry, but I was late for school. You see, it’s my first day at Silver Star High and…”

“Are you the new transfer student we’re expecting?”

“Oh, yes. I’m Kaoru Kamiya.”

“Kaoru…”

“Himura-san…”

“Please don’t call me Himura-san. My friends call me Kenshin, that they do.”

“Oh, Ok. Um, do you go to Silver Star High?”

“Yes indeed I do. Mind if I walk with you?”

“He wants to walk with me? Not skate by me?” she though. “Okay. Fine.” She told him. He just smiled at her his famous rurouni smile. Kaoru started to think how different this boy was from most of the other skaters. He was polite, and kind and… well, plain cute. As they walked they started a conversation.

“I’ve heard the name “Kamiya” before… Does your family run the new training Dojo downtown? Kamiya Kasshin Ryu, I think.” Kenshin said.

“Yeah. I’m the assistant master there. My little brother is my First Apprentice. Do you practice kendo, by any chance?”

“Yeah. I’m really into it. You know what? In school, you can join the kendo club if you’d like.”

“Thanks for the advice.”

They made it to the school just as the bell was ringing. Kenshin led Kaoru to her classroom and disappeared into the crowd.

“He wasn’t so bad, for a skater. C’mon, Kaoru. Don’t go falling head-over-heels for him. He’s just a guy.” Kaoru said to herself as she entered her classroom. She scanned the room for a chair and saw a few at the back of the classroom.

“Hey, you can sit next to me if you want.” Said a girl with her dark hair braided at the back.

“Thank you.” Kaoru nodded gratefully as she took a seat next to the girl.

“I’m Misao Makimachi. What’s your name?”

“I’m Kaoru Kamiya.”

“Nice to meet ya, Kaoru. Are you new in the neighborhood? I’ve never seen you before.”

“Yeah. My brother and I moved to Tokyo last week, and I’ve spent all my time giving some lessons. I’m Assistant Master of the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu.”

“Kamiya Kasshin, huh? I think kendo’s nice, but I’d rather be a ninja.”

“Let me guess…Oniwaban Group fan?”

“Yeah! That’s my absolute favorite manga! I even ordered some kunais through their order form, and I’ve been training hard to become a ninja just like them.

“Interesting…” Kaoru was cut off because Professor Hajime Saitoh entered the room. The students knew better than to tick him off.

“Good day, students. I’ll see those of you who want to at kendo this afternoon. By the way, from now on you will be joined in kendo by group 11 A. Heard there are pretty good swordsmen there. Also, I’ve heard of our new transfer student. Please welcome Miss Kamiya, who is also the Assistant Master of the new Dojo downtown. I’m expecting to see how good you are, Missy.”

“Yes, Sir.”

“Very well. You are dismissed.”

Everybody moved out to the hallway, chatting and laughing. Kaoru pulled Misao down the hallway.

“Is he really that hateful all the time?” she asked Misao, referring to Saitoh.

“Yeah. He even calls me WEASEL sometimes. Oooooh, I HATE IT when they call me that.” Said Misao forming her hands into fists.

“Who calls you ‘Weasel’?”

“Oh, I’ll introduce you to them later. Now let’s go! Wouldn’t want Professor Murasaki to be mad at us!” said Misao, pulling Kaoru with her to the Math classroom. Kaoru let herself be pulled, as she thought of everything that had passed in such a short time. Maybe Tokyo wasn’t bad after all.

*****

Oh, well. Here’s the first chapter. I’ll leave it up to you guys if I should continue or not. I already have up to chapter 13 written, but I won’t post it if nobody cares. And I’m also working on another RK fic that takes place in the Meiji era. After I finish this one, (if I finish) I might even post it. Well, hope to hear from you guys soon. Peace out!
