Chapter 3
Unstoppable Force
Two days after Aoshi and Misao faced the hunter, Kenshin, Saito and Sano had arrived in Tokyo. The carriage stopped off in front of the police headquarters.
“What are we doing here,” Sano asked,” I thought we were going to the Aoiya.”
“I have business to take care of here you moron,” Saito said sternly,” You two can go ahead and head on over to the Aoiya…I’ll meet up with you all later.”
“Very well then Saito,” Kenshin said.
As Saito entered the building to speak with the chief, Kenshin and Sano made their way to the Aoiya. What struck them as odd was that it was so quiet…in fact there was no one on the streets. Unknown to either one, the hunter was already studying them, but turned its attention back to the police headquarters, it had intended to go after the ones named Aoshi and Misao, but until it located them, it would have to deal with the humans here.

“Damn,” Sano said,” Where in the hell is everyone?”
“They must be hiding because of the manslayer,” Kenshin said.
“This bastard must be pretty bad if he has everyone hiding,” Sano said.
“Well hopefully we can change that,” Kenshin said as they got closer to the Aoiya.
As soon as the reached the Aoiya Kenshin called out,” Miss Misao…Okina?”
Misao appeared and smiled when she saw Kenshin and Sano.
“Kenshin…Sano,” Misao said with a smile,” It’s good to see you…although I doubt that you came here for asocial visit.”
“Saito told us about this manslayer so we thought we’d come by and help,” Kenshin said.
“Slayer would be correct, but this thing is far from being a man,” Misao said.
“What do you mean,” Sano asked.
“I’ll tell you inside,” Misao said,” Please come in.”

Once inside, both Sano and Kenshin were greeted by the other members of the Oniwa Banshu and shortly after were informed of all that had gone on over the past few days…including what this hunter looked like.
"What do you think this creature could be," Sano asked Kenshin.
"Sounds like a demon from hell." A familiar voice from behind Sano said.
Everyone turned and saw Saito enter the building, no one was happy to see him, but then again Saito didn’t expect any warm welcome from them, and he was rather disappointed with the police force here in Kyoto.
"Well everyone down at headquarters is a complete idiot," Saito said,” No one has slightest idea of what to do in this situation
"So you're here as well Saito," Aoshi said.
"I go wherever there is a challenge," Saito said,” So Battousai…how do you plan on handling this monster?”
“I’m not sure exactly,” Kenshin said,” If this thing can vanish at will then, it will be very hard for us to locate it.”
Suddenly a police officer rushed into the Aoiya…everyone turned to see he was bleeding from various places. He struggled to stand as he tried to reach out to Saito.
“Saito Sir…the manslayer has reappeared…” he struggled to say before collapsing to the ground.
"Where exactly is it attacking," Kenshin asked.
"It’s….it’s…attacking the…police headquarters,” he said before breathing his last breath.
“Damn it all,” Saito said as he got hold of his katana.
“We have to hurry,” Kenshin said.
Kenshin and the others quickly left the towards the police headquarters hoping they would be able to save the men before it was too late.

“Finally were in Kyoto,” Yahiko said.
“Now all we have to do is get to the Aoiya,” Karou said,” We’ll show Kenshin that we’re not useless!”
“Yeah,” Yahiko said.
As the departed the ship they found that Kyoto was so quiet. They were about to head off toward the Aoiya when they saw an old merchant already closing up his shop.
“Excuse me,” Karou said,” but where is everyone?”
“Haven’t you heard,” he said in a worried tone,” there’s a curfew for all citizens to seek shelter while this Manslayer is out and about…I heard he’s attacking the police headquarters right now.”
“Guess we know where to go,” Yahiko said.
“Wait… you’re going to the police headquarters,” the old merchant said,” You’re crazy!”
“We’re here to help stop him,” Karou said.
“Then it was nice meeting you…cause you most likely won’t be coming back,” he said as he closed his shop and rushed off for his house.
“We better hurry Yahiko,” Karou said.
“Right,” Yahiko said.
They quickly took off to reach the headquarters and save the officers before it was too. Little did they know that Kenshin and the others had already reached the headquarters and immediately rushed in just as a headless body was thrown out from the third floor of the building.
“We’d better hurry,” Okina said.
They searched through the building, but seemed like they were too late. They had passed what seemed like fifteen bodies along the way, most of which were missing their heads, others had strange burns on their bodies, and others were mutilated beyond recognition.
“This is horrible,” Misao said.
“Misao,” Aoshi said,” you and the other Oniwa Banshu help the wounded…too many lives have been lost!”
“O…Okay,” Misao said.
“Aoshi,” Okina said,” You, Himura and the others be careful…we’ll be up shortly to help.”
Aoshi nodded then, then he Kenshin, Sano, and Saito headed for the third floor determined to end this battle tonight. Both Karou and Yahiko reached the scene of the attack first and saw the horrific carnage around them. Yahiko looked on with horror and Karou shook her head in disgust. They quickly overcame their sickness and rushed in to help those who were screaming.
“Karou,” Misao yelled out,” what are you doing here?”
“We came to help Kenshin,” Karou said.
“He and Lord Aoshi went up to the third floor,” Misao said.
“Then let’s go,” Yahiko said as he ran up the stairs.
“Wait Yahiko,” Karou said as he chased after him.
“Karou hold on,” Misao said,” Okina, I’m going after them.”
“Be careful Misao,” Okina said as helped one of the injured officers to safety.

Kenshin and the others reached the third floor, but all they found was more blood and three more bodies. The killer however was nowhere to be found. Suddenly they all heard footsteps and saw Karou, Yahiko and Misao join them.
"Yahiko! Miss Karou," Kenshin said in shock," What are you doing here?"
"Sorry Kenshin, but we had to help," Karou said.
"Besides these are our friends as well," Yahiko said.
"So where is the monster," Misao asked anxiously.
"No clue," Sano said," we got up here and found…"
He stopped talking when they all heard a creaking sound on the roof. Everyone tensed up as the creaking continued but was then followed by a strange clicking sound.
“He’s on the roof,” Yahiko whispered.
“No kidding,” Misao said sarcastically,” you must be the smartest kid alive.”
“What’d you say you ugly girl,” Yahiko shouted.
“Yahiko be quiet,” Karou whispered.
"Enough of this shit," Saito said as he prepared to thrust with his Gatotsu but aimed it toward the ceiling and yelled," Gatotsu Third Stance."
With a quick burst from his legs he shot upward striking the ceiling and in an instant it exploded, but there was no sign of the killer.
"My turn," Sano said as he jump up prepared to strike the ceiling with his right fist and yelled," Futae no Kiwami."
In an instant, a chunk of the ceiling completely disintegrated, but yet again there was no sign of the creature.
"Where the hell is it," Sano yelled in fury.
Suddenly there was an explosion from the center of the roof and the monster crashed through catching everyone off guard. It didn’t even bother with its cloaking. Once inside, the creature launched its disc toward Misao who rolled to the side at the last second, but not without injury. The disc slashed her right leg leaving a heavy gash as the blood began to pool around her. Yahiko and Karou were about to attack, when the creature used the back of it left hand to strike Yahiko and knock him to the ground the quickly grabbed Karou by her neck and tossed her by Misao.
“Misao…you demon,” Aoshi said as he charged forward to attack the creature.
The monster extended the twin blades on its right gauntlet and just as Aoshi was about strike; it slashed upward tearing through Aoshi’s chest. The giant then grabbed Aoshi by his throat and effortlessly tossed him at Saito and Sano just as they were about attack; knocking them all to the ground. The creature then turned its attention towards Kenshin just as he prepared to attack.
"Hiten Mitsurugi…Sou Ryu Sen," Kenshin yelled as he charged at the creature.
Kenshin's blade and sheath struck the monster in his side, but rather then sending the creature it merely pushed it back. The creature shook off the attack then tried to slash at Kenshin, but he dodged to the side only struck by the back of the monster’s left hand. Kenshin fell to the ground and slowly began to push himself, but the creature would not let him recover. It drew out its glaive determined to finish the fight quickly.
“Kenshin,” Karou cried out.
“Miss Karou,” Misao said as she held four shurikens in her hand,” Now!”
The creature raised the glaive over its head determined to separate Kenshin's head from his neck, when it was suddenly struck in the right side of its face, or rather mask, by a wooden sword and four shurikens to its right side. The monster groaned took a step back then turned its attention toward the two girls, when suddenly the little boy charged forward.
"Good job distracting it you guys," Yahiko said," now it's my turn!”
"Yahiko no," Misao and Karou yelled.
Yahiko yelled in anger as he charged at the creature, but wasn't fully aware of what he was up against. The creature used the glaive to quickly cut the boy’s wooden sword in half and while Yahiko was stunned by this, the creature then rammed the glaive through Yahiko’s left shoulder. Yahiko screamed out as he felt the metal tear through his flesh and bone, suddenly the creature twisted the glaive while it was still imbedded in Yahiko’s shoulder then pull it out with one jerk. Yahiko collapsed to his knees as he placed his right hand over the wound in an attempt to stop the blood, but it was bleeding profusely.
The creature was satisfied with stopping the boy then turned its attention toward Kenshin and the others, but saw them regroup and prepare to attack. The creature raised its glaive but then saw its own green blood drip down its arm. Rather than risk any further injury, it placed the glaive on its back and gathered up the net containing four severed heads and began to run toward the window.
"It's getting away," Misao yelled despite the pain in her leg.
“You got to stop him Kenshin,” Yahiko groaned as he looked at the monster.
The creature turned towards Kenshin and the others and said," Kenshin…trophy!”
Kenshin looked at the creature questioningly as it said that phrase, then the monster pressed a button on its left gauntlet then slowly vanished before jumping out the window. It was pointless to try and fight something they couldn’t see and they had to help the wounded.
“Kenshin,” Karou said as she helped support Misao.
“We’ll stop him,” Kenshin said,” but right now we have to treat those wounds.”
To Be Concluded…
