SOJIRO SETA
JAPANESE SPELLING: Seta Soujirou Sojiro was the bastard son of a man who owned a wholesale rice business. He was taken in by the family, because they were worried what people would think. The boy was treated cruel and forced to wait on the other siblings. A small mistake often resulted in beatings. At first he would become angry and cry, but soon he learned that if he just put up with it and smiled, they would eventually get sick of him and stop. One evening he witnessed Shishio killing policemen. When Shishio raised his sword to end the boy's life, Sojiro just looked up at him and smiled. Intrigued, Shishio spared the boy and opted to hide out on the grounds. Sojiro would bring Shishio food and bandages while Shishio would give Sojiro his code of survival...."If you're strong, you live...If you're weak, you die." Before Shishio would depart, he gave Sojiro a wakizashi (sword). That same evening, the family discovered the boy had been harboring a criminal. They became enraged. Their plan was to kill the boy and place the blame on the fugitive. A frightened Sojiro snapped.....he used his new sword and disposed of them all. Afterwards, Shishio asked the boy if he wanted to accompany him. Sojiro accepted. Through the years Sojiro's speed and swordsmanship excelled. They called him Tenken, because his abilities were considered a gift from the Heavens. |
