Chapter Two: Singing Birds

Chira went to the café after school the next day. She wanted to
check out about the “Mew Project.”
“Umm… Excuse me?” she asks when she comes in. Ryu and Keiichirou
sees her as she enters the café. “Konnichiwa Chira-san. Would you like
anything?” asks Keiichirou. Chira shakes her head. “It’s… umm… no… no
thank you. I would… actually want to know what the… umm… “Mew Project”
has anything to do with me, and what… umm… happened to Tokyo Mew Mew?”
Keiichirou turns towards Ryu, and then back to Chira. Ryu makes a big
sigh. “There are now two groups to Tokyo Mew Mew. Mew Strawberry’s group
and your’s.” Chira gasps. “Me? What… do you… mean?” she asks in
confusion. Ryu explains, “You are the leader of the new group.” Again, Chira
gasps. She is more worried and confused. “So, there will be… other new
Mews?” Ryu nods and deeply exhales.
“Where… are the other Mew Mews in my group? And how… did they
become Mews when they are somewhere… out there?” asks Chira puzzlingly.
Keiichirou explains, “When we merged you with DNAnimal some other DNA
energy in our lab escaped and randomly merged with four other girls. Those
other girls are going to part of your group.” Chira gets confused
caused by all this important information.
Suddenly, an idea pops into Keiichirou’s head. He walks over to
Ryu and converse. All Chira can hear is mumbling. “Nani? What are they
thinking of?” ponders Chira. Ryu nods and a big adoring smile appears on
his face. “Chira-san,” he asks, “do you want to work at our café? We
couldn’t open up because Tokyo Mew Mew is apparently at America. They are
the waitresses at Café Mew Mew. So do you want to work here and become
a waitress? You also get paid.” Chira thinks for a moment. “Okay…” Ryu
smiles. He goes out of the room and Chira impatiently waits.
He comes out with a uniform similar to the uniform of Café
waitresses, only a bit different - it was a bit darker than Ichigo’s café
uniform, and it had the same heart shaped apron and bow on the back, but
the laces and trimming were more decorative and beautiful, and the skirt
part was more flurry like Ichigo’s school uniform, and the bow on the
top was a bit puffier, and there was a bow on the waitress hat. Chira
screeched, “Wah! Kawaii! It’s the most adorable thing I have ever seen!”
Keiichirou laughed, “You can start working tomorrow after school.”
Chira smiled and gleamed - her face is even more happy compared to when she
was positive she was going on the date with Kesuga.
That night in the shower Chira notices a strange marking on the
back of her neck - it is bright pink and it seemed like a heart with two
arrows diagonally shooting upwards. She goes down to her mother and
asks what it could be. Her mother laughs and tells her to stop playing
jokes. “But okaa-san,” she argues, “what is it?” Her smiles shaking her
head. “Honey, there’s nothing there.” Her mother sighs and continues with
her novel. Chira walks upstairs discouraged and heads into a deep sleep
leading to a peaceful dream.
That morning, Chira wakes up and gets ready for school. “Okaa-san!
Otaou-san! Sayonara!” She heads out the doors and hops on her bike. She
went fast and saw she was about and hour early. She stopped by Café Mew
Mew to visit Keiichirou and Ryu. Outside of the locked door, Chira
screamed out, “Shirogane-san! Akasaka-kun!” No one answers her calls. She
tried again. “Shirogane-san! Akasaka-kun!” Finally, Ryu opened the door.
“Your really impatient, Chira-san. You know that?” She blushed crimson.
“Gome…”
Keiichirou told Chira, “We told your school that you are going to
be absent based on some certain circumstances. There are more Aqua
Mutates in Tokyo! We don’t know the cause of it, But one is right near your
school! You should hurry.” Chira nods and quickly transforms. “Mew Mew
Cherry! Transmutation Generation!” (She is a different “species” of Mew
Mew so she had to have a different chant.) She transforms into Mew
Cherry. Before she goes, Ryu and Keiichirou tells her of how to summon her
weapon and what attack to use it with. Chira remembers and runs towards
her school.
She saw three people within attack range of the Aqua Mutate.
Sanate Burore - a girl with two black, buns ending with a ponytail and
bright green eyes and the best singer in school - Anepatu Cheinchi - another
girl with long, blonde hair tied into one big braid and dark brown eyes
and the best artist in school - and Kesuga. “Pink Light!” Chira
chanted. She attacked the Aqua Mutate. It just made a dent in it’s body, and
caught the attention of Chira. “Uh oh!” Chira jumped up and pounced on
the Aqua Mutate and bounced off. Then, she remembered what Ryu and
Keiichirou told her. She started chanting, “Forces of Moon, Star, Earth! The
forces of trinity! I summon the Cherry Scepter with your power and
divinity!… Mew Mew!” (I said I had to change the chants!) Chira’s weapon,
the “Cherry Scepter,” appeared in front of her. She then attacked the
Aqua Mutate with a new attack. Chira chanted, “Wish Cherry Scepter
Aura!” A bright glow, even brighter than “Pink Light,” appeared at the top
of the Cherry Scepter. Then, Chira whacked the scepter in midair and the
blinding light came at top speed at the Aqua Mutate. It roared with all
it’s might! Then, vanished a sudden death.
Kesuga walked away and Burore and Cheinchi ran over to Chira and
endlessly asked questions. “How did you do that?” “Are you a Mew Mew?”
“What attack was that?” “Where are the other Mews?” “What Mew Mew are
you?” “Are there other new Mew Mews?” Chira sweat dropped at the
never-ending questions.
Then in the air, something sprinted across towards a nearby tree
and something shiny (ooh… shiny…) went towards the girls. Chira tries to
stop it when she sees what it is. They are ninja stars. She tries to
stop them, but they run past the edge of Cheinchi’s uniform skirt and the
back of Burore’s uniform blouse. They both rip, but Chira saw something
at Burore’s back. It looks like a blue heart with a pair of wings on
the end of it. Chira wondered if it was a type of a marking, similar to
the one she has on the back of her neck. Maybe those markings are Mew
Mew Symbols. Chira goes at the tree and chant, “Pink Light!” but the
ninja already disappeared. Cheinchi runs home while Chira tells Burore to
follow her.
They both see the café, and Ryu and Keiichirou wait out side the
door. “Shirogane-san! Akasaka-kun! I think I found another Mew Mew!”
yells Chira as she runs and then turns back to normal after she stops.
Chira shows them the Mew Mew Symbol, but unfortunately, they see no
marking on Burore’s back. Chira tells them the truth and says there’s one on
the back of her neck. Ryu and Keiichirou explains, “We know you’re
telling the truth. The only reason why we can’t see the mark is because
only true Mews can see the divine symbols.” Burore cuts in, “Hold on! Are
you saying that I’m a Mew Mew?” Chira nods and happily says, “Hai!
Isn’t it… um great?!” Burore replies, “But… I have a career ahead of me! I
work with super model Fujiwara Zakuro.” Ryu and Keiichirou look at each
other, and then stare at the girls. “Burore,” Ryu explains, “Fujiwara
Zakuro is a Mew Mew.” “And she works as a waitress at our café as well,”
Keiichirou adds on. Chira and Burore look at each other astonished.
When Burore and Chira are about to leave for home, Burore asks,
“Where’s Tokyo Mew Mew? I haven’t seen them for a while.” Keiichirou
explains, “Unfortunately, the population of the Chimera Anima is growing
wild in America. We sent them there to stop the creatures, but more and
more Chimera Animas appear. But then, Aqua Mutates, Chimera Anima with
an extra power of Mew Aqua - We’ll explain Mew Aqua to you girls later -
started appearing here in Nihon (or Japan). That’s why there will be a
new Mew Mew group. Tokyo Mew Mew and… well, we haven’t thought of a
name for your group yet. (But it’s probably obvious that you know what the
group’s name is.)” Burore and Chira head there separate ways home.
Then, a scream comes out of nowhere and Chira rushes to where the
source is. She quickly turns into “Mew Cherry” along the way. “Mew Mew
Cherry! Transmutation Generation!” She soon finds Burore with a Aqua
Mutate trying to attack her. Chira screams towards Burore, trying to tell
her what her Mew Mew chants are, “Chant ‘Mew Mew Blueberry!
Transmutation Generation!’ to transform into a Mew Mew. And then chant ‘Forces of
Moon, Star, Earth! The forces of trinity! I summon the Sky Bow with
your power and divinity!’ to summon your weapon!”
Burore nods and then transforms into a Mew Mew. “Mew Mew
Blueberry! Transmutation Generation!” Burore instantly transforms into a Mew Mew
- she has a similar outfit to Minto’s only that the color of Burore’s
costume is much lighter, her wings are a bit darker and bigger (and more
feathery looking) than Minto’s, her hair turns dark blue with two buns
ending in ponytails, her boots and more like Retasu’s only blue and
more decorative, and her gloves are like Minto’s, only lighter like her
costume, she has the same choker, arm braces and leg brace and she has
the same kind of tail that Minto has, only darker like her wings - and
she summons her “Sky Bow.” Burore chants, “Forces of Moon, Star, Earth!
The forces of trinity! I summon the Sky Bow with your power and
divinity!… Mew Mew!” Her bow instantly appears in front of her and she makes
an attack on the Aqua Mutate. “Wish Sky Arrow!” An arrow appears in her
bow an she shoots at the Aqua Mutate. It just makes a small dent in
Aqua Mutate’s arm. Chira goes for it with her “Cherry Scepter.” “Wish
Cherry Scepter Aura!” A big glow appears at top of the “Cherry Scepter” and
she whacked the “Cherry Scepter” in midair and the glow went straight
for the Aqua Mutate. The same as Burore’s attack, it made a small dent
at it’s arm.
Then, Chira remembers Ryu saying something about an attack that
the Mew Mew bonds with it’s DNAnimal. Chira yells towards Burore, “Chant
‘Mew Melody!’ It’s a special attack that I believe can work!” Burore
just shrugs, but she believes Chira and chants, “Mew Melody!” Burore
starts to sing a powerful, enchanting serenade. The Aqua Mutate cannot
withstand the high-pitched frequency and collapses and fades away. Chira
then looks over at Burore, “So you still want to join the Mew Mews?”
The next day after school, Chira and Burore walk over to Café Mew
Mew with Kesuga and have a blast. Kimofati Chira - an ordinary
schoolgirl - and Sanate Burore - a pop singer (still in school, though) working
with a famous model - work at the cafe for the first time it opens in a
long while. There first customer, Kirotoko Kesuga, asks one of the
waitresses at the café, “Do want to go to the zoo on the weekend?…”
