Beyblade V-Force, Episode 10 Summary, “The Island of No Return”
December 11, 2003 by Lady Leosa

After the usual recap we find the Bladebreakers looking out over the ocean, realizing they are trapped on an island.  Tyson is in great pain from his hurt left leg.  Hillary examines the injury, a large inflamed area near his ankle.  She probes, Tyson yelps.  Hillary says Tyson has damaged the muscle, and he needs to rest it.  Tyson says he’s fine and begins to prance around, but has to sit down again from the pain.  Everybody starts to discuss options.  They can’t escape since they’re trapped on an island.  Tyson wants to fight, but Kenny insists it’s too dangerous.  Kenny notices a lighthouse a way down the coast, and thinks the team should go there to look for a radio.  Tyson says no villain would be stupid enough to leave a radio in a prison.  Hillary and Tyson start to argue again, Hillary in favor of the lighthouse, Tyson in favor of fighting.  Ray diplomatically suggests they should divide into two groups: Kenny and Hillary go to the lighthouse, the rest battle.  To everyone’s surprise, Kai volunteers to go with Kenny and Hillary as their protector.  Kenny tells everyone they can communicate via the battle analyzers.  The team members split in separate directions.  In the bad guys’ secret island headquarters, the mad scientists and their flunkeys carefully monitor their targets.

Back in the city, Tyson’s harried Grandpa runs into BBA HQ and up to Mr. Dickinson’s office.  Mr. D explains that there is no news about the Bladebreakers, but they will keep searching.  Mr. D also mentions the mysterious Men In Black.  On a nearby rooftop, Ozuma and Dunga are also waiting.

Kenny, Hillary, and Kai are walking along a coastal path, cliffs to their right, a steep drop to the ocean on their left.  The villains activate a trap.  Kai senses danger, and a major rockfall plummets directly towards our group.  There is a crash and dust cloud.  Hillary opens her eyes and sees Kai’s face VERY close to hers.  Kai asks if the two are all right, Hillary says yes.  (Fangirls, begin fainting.)  A wider shot shows that Kenny and Hillary crouched against the right-hand cliffs, Kai leaning protectively over them.  Apparently when the rocks were coming down Kai grabbed Kenny and Hillary, threw them back out of the way against the cliff base, and shielded them with his own body.  (WOW, THAT TAKES GUTS!)  The three realize the path to the lighthouse is completely blocked.  A voice from hidden loudspeakers says they must give up their route and fight as instructed.  Kenny and Hillary leave the decision to Kai.  Kai starts climbing the rockfall, saying he is going to the lighthouse.  Kenny and Hillary enthusiastically follow.  The villains decide to destroy a bridge leading to the lighthouse.  Kai’s group hears the distant explosion.  They don’t know what it is, but suppose they will find out soon enough.

We see Max, Ray, and Tyson hiking through the woods, Tyson using a staff to support his injured ankle.  Max and Ray rest in the bed of an abandoned pickup truck, and ask Tyson is he OK?  Tyson protests he’s fine, dancing about, but then collapses again from the pain.  Suddenly the pickup starts up and roars backwards down the slope.  Tyson manages to leap onto the truck’s hood as it passes.

Kai’s group finds a ravine blocking their way to the lighthouse, and the ruins of the bridge.  They decide to walk along the ravine to find another way across.

Tyson crawls into the truck’s cab, trying to stop it, but the steering wheel comes off in his hands.  The pickup plummets over a cliff and down many stories into a deep ravine.  Violating all laws of physics, the three manage to walk away from the wreck unharmed.  A hidden loudspeaker announces they have reached the second battle arena.  The three boys notice they are in front of a cave, and cautiously walk in.  They go down a dark tunnel and finds a cavern lit by many candles, with a large beyblade dish.  There is a weird kid with a wheezy laugh wearing goggles hanging from the ceiling.  It is one of the beybladers from Team Psykick.  He calls himself the Dark Emperor Bat, and challenges them to a bey-battle.  Tyson of course wants to fight, but Ray accepts instead since Tyson is too injured. The bladers prepare themselves while the scientists prepare their systems.

Ray and DEB launch their beyblades, and Ray battles hard.  But DEB’s beyblade can do swift aerial attacks and Ray is having trouble avoiding them.  Ray manages a counteroffensive.  DEB uses his blade to blow out all the candles in the cavern, plunging it into darkness.  DEB is wearing night vision goggles, so he can see just fine.  But Ray can’t see his opponent’s blade, and Driger is getting hammered.  Ray is also getting hurt through the feedback.  Ray focuses and gathers his energy, and the scientists notice Ray’s vital signs are going up.  Ray finally calls out a very muscular Driger in golden armor.  Hidden capture devices snare Driger in the same energy net they used on Draciel.  Driger is getting pounded, and Ray’s and Driger’s vital signs are going down.  Suddenly Tyson notices the distinctive sound that DEB’s beyblade makes in the air, and tells Ray to use the sounds.  Ray closes his eyes, and can hear the beyblade as it swoops down.  He successfully directs Driger’s blade away from the attack.  Ray fights the rest of the battle with closed eyes.  Driger performs a powerful Tiger Claw attack and rips out of the energy net, then smashes DEB’s blade out of the dish.  DEB freaks out.  Suddenly the cavern starts to collapse and the team runs back out the tunnel, but Tyson falls behind because of his hurt leg.  In the control room, the head scientist tells headquarters they failed.  Max and Ray walk out of the cave, Max congratulating Ray on his victory.  They look back at Tyson, and discover he is doubled over in pain.  The running escape has made his ankle injury worse.

Back in the city, a police team goes over the Bladebreakers’ abandoned team bus.  Mr. Dickinson asks the police for any updates.  Tyson’s loudmouth Grandpa, standing in the crowd, is reduced to one emotional, “Tyson!”

Kai, Hillary, and Kenny find a large intact stone bridge across the ravine, heading for the lighthouse.  They start to cross, and at the midpoint find a beyblade dish built into the floor of the bridge.  Waiting for them is the skinny hawk-faced kid from Team Psykick, who announces he is Kai’s opponent.  Looks like Kai must fight after all.
