Konohamaru reports the events of the mission to Naruto, Sai, and Shikamaru. Naruto arranges to go see the boy.
Kawaki has been detained at the Institute of Advanced Technology. When bringing him food, Sumire let's it slip that he is where scientific ninja tools are made.
Using the "I have to go to the bathroom guise," the clever Kawaki gets a hold of some of the ninja tools and is able to escape.
Sumire hears about the escape. She feels responsible and goes looking for him. She finds him in the stairwell. When the two fight, and Sumire gets hurt, Nue gets angry and transforms. The large creature bites into Kawaki's arm. Sumire pulls Nue from Kawaki and holds the creature back.
With his arm bleeding heavily, Kawaki escapes through a back door.
