Episode 192: The Past

Highlights:

Kawaki is lying in a hospital bed unconscious where he dreams (more like a nightmare) of the past.

Abused by an alcoholic father; as a youngster, Kawaki was forced to chop wood to earn money to purchase liquor. On his way home one day, he becomes mesmerized by a vendor's display of goldfish. The vendor is kind to him giving him info on a free festival having lots of goldfish. Kawaki gets home a short time later, but is denied dinner when his pig of a father sees the flyer.

After cutting wood one day, Kawaki is bullied by two older kids. The goldfish vendor comes to his aide when the boys hit the youngster. It just so happens, there have been tents and doctors roaming the village looking to draw blood using a plague as an excuse. The vendor had given Kawaki a tissue to clean his bleeding head. Once Kawaki runs home, Delta picks up the discarded tissue.

That evening Kawaki was punished once again, because he had fallen and broke the bottle of alcohol. Shortly after, Jigen appears and offers Kawaki's father a large sum of money to buy the boy.

Jigen and Kawaki enter a tunnel where they run into the goldfish vendor. Geez... turns out he is a human trafficker and wants Kawaki. Jigen sends Kawaki outside to wait for him. The man comes out alone (one can only assume what happened to the trafficker).

Soon the two arrive at Kara headquarters. Jigen tells Amado to treat Kawaki courteously. He says he'll give him a special present.

Present day Kawaki wakes up suddenly.... throwing the covers off of him. He stares at the end of the bed where Naruto, Shikamaru, and Konohamaru are. Naruto tries to calm him by saying that he is in a safe place.
