The Byakuya Gang is causing major trouble for the Leaf Village. Disgruntled employees are picketing Denki's father's Company, Kaminarimon Corporation.

Meanwhile, Shikadai enjoys his time with Ryogi, but he is having suspicions.

Ryogi's past is revealed, and it is tragic. Both his parents were murdered in front of him, Just as it appeared that the perpetrator would serve him the same fate, he is (conveniently) rescued by Gekko. The man convinces the boy to join the gang for they are honorable thieves.

Later, Shikadai and Ryogi meet to play shogi. They play into the evening where Ryogi pulls out a lamp. When Shikadai wins they game, he asks Ryogi to answer one question, "Are you part of the Byakuya Gang?" Ryogi brushes it off until Shikadai tells him that the lamp was on one of the stolen goods list! Ryogi angrily escapes using his ice jutsu.
