Ill fated Prince Clovis was the first to meet his demise at the hands of Lelouch. He was the Third Prince of the Holy Britannian Empire and Viceroy of Area 11 prior to his death. During his childhood, Clovis would often play Chess with Lelouch, and although he would consistently lose to the younger boy, Clovis considered him a friendly rival. Clovis was not one to be considered a strong leader, however, he was very talented artistically. He excelled at painting and even designed the amusement park, Clovisland.

Clovis and his minions were doing research on C.C. and others with geass capabilities. When her capsule is stolen by Japanese resistance fighters, Clovis orders the complete annihilation of Shinzuku Ghetto. This deadly act almost cost Lelouch his life, but also gained him the geass power. With that power, Lelouch confronts Clovis. After asking Clovis' involvement in his mother's death, Lelouch kills the Third Prince. Thus Clovis appeared in only 3 episodes, but he is referenced throughout the series.
