Mao

Mao is the young man that C.C. gave GEASS powers 11 years ago. He was only a six-year-old orphan when she formed a contract with him. Back then, he didn’t know how to read or write and never knew his parent’s love. He was very naïve and still didn't comprehend good or evil. The GEASS power that she gave Mao kept other people away from him. That is why C.C. meant everything to him.

Mao's GEASS is the ability to read minds. His range is 500 meters. Unfortunately, he is unable to turn off the voices and must wear headphones of a recording made by C.C. in order to free himself of the those voices. Even with those headphones, it's apparent that the powers he possessed resulted in his insanity.

Mao "almost" meets his demise in episode 15. He is about to slice and dice C.C. when Lelouch appears and has the police open fire on the man (execution style) while they are in the GEASS state. However, thanks to the great doctors of Britannia, Mao survives. In a future episode he kidnaps Nunnally and both Lelouch and Suzaku must save her. They succeed but Suzaku is traumatized when Mao brings up events leading to his father's death. Shortly after, Mao is killed at the hands of C.C.
