Re-cap: Marcus' father, Spenser, became the God of the Digital World and the human's enemy. Deciding to meet his father once more and listen to his true feelings, Marcus left Thomas and the others to protect Earth as he headed back to the Digital World. Meanwhile, the Royal Knights with their subordinate Knightmon in tow, began their invasion in every city around the World.

Slight warning: This is an emotional episode. If you are a sensitive person, keep a box of tissues nearby. :p

While the DATS team are fighting the Knightmon, Thomas receives a desperate call from Yushima. Despite the warnings, Mr. Norstein attempts to take off in his private jet. He is anxious to get Relena back to Austria and protect their manor. However, the digimon attacks have put the plane in grave danger. Thomas and Gaomon must come to their rescue. Once the dust has settled, Thomas confronts his father, but this stubborn man is still insisting he'll fly home. "Don't you want to protect your sister," he says to Thomas. "What about you?" Thomas retorts, "What have you ever protected?"

FLASHBACK: Mr. Norstein is taking Thomas back to Austria after his mother's death. Poor Thomas wanted to savor the memories, but his father barely acknowledged him. Once they returned to Austria, Thomas overheard his Grandmother talking to his father. She said that he could never be accepted as an heir to the Norstein name. She then went on to criticize his father for baring a child with a young and ignorant exchange student in the first place. Poor Thomas felt isolated and unwanted. END FLASHBACK.

Outside the plane, Thomas observes a great amount of Knightmon heading their way. At the same time, the doctor informs them that Relena has gone into spasms. Outside Yushima prepares for the attacking Knightmon:

Digisoul full charge...!! Gawappamon (Kamemon) evolves to Shawujingmon!
(A perfect level digimon who evolves from Kamemon. His special attack is Kouyoujyou: Taki-no-jin, which comes from the staff he holds. It smashes through solid earth and releases a raging stream of water.)

Back inside the plane Relena stabilizes holding Thomas' hand.

FLASHBACK: The day came when Relena was born. The child was weak and sickly from the time of her birth. One evening, Thomas entered the room of the newborn. Relena was restless until she was able to hold Thomas' hand. Thomas knew he felt a bond from that time on. END FLASHBACK.

"Thomas turns towards his father, "I will do something for Relena's sake, but I won't be doing it because I'm a Norstein!" Thomas and Gaomon join Shawujingmon.
Digisoul charge! Overdrive! Gaomon evolves to MirageGaogamon!
He proceeds to bring the Knightmon down when suddenly RhodoKnightmon appears. (An ultimate level digimon who is also a Royal Knight. His special attack is Argent fear. The pile bunker on his right arm sends forth shock waves.) "Spiral Masquerade," the Royal Knight yells as MirageGaogamon attempts an attack. When Thomas' digimon takes a fall, Yushima notices the boy is bothered by something.

Inside the plane, Mr. Norstein recalls what his mother said after Relena's birth....
FLASHBACK: Thomas shall succeed the Norstein lineage. Because of her weak body, Relena will not do. Instead, arrange for a young lady of suitable pedigree to become Thomas' wife. Choose one that will prevent others from talking behind our backs. END FLASHBACK.

Shortly, Mr. Norstein is told arrangements have been made for them, and they should leave while Thomas is distracting the digimon. Unfortunately, RhodoKnightmon is annihilating both MirageGaogamon and Shawujingmon. Just as Thomas runs to his fallen digimon, the doctors take Relena by stretcher from the plane. She sees her brother, jumps from the stretcher, and runs to him. One of the Knightmon targets the young child. Thank goodness, Thomas and MirageGaogamon are there to prevent the attack. Grateful to Thomas, Mr. Norstein admits that he was desperate to do things to protect the Norstein name. Realizing his father is sorry, Thomas hands the man Relena and says he will do everything he can to protect them.

"Let's go, MirageGaogamon!"
Ultimate evolution! Digisoul Burst! MirageGaogamon Burst mode!
(The appearance MirageGaogamon takes on after using Burst Evolution to temporarily activate the limits of his power. His special attack is Full Moon Meteor Impact.)

Unbelievable!! RhodoKnightmon is soon reduced to a digi-egg.

A short time later inside the building, Relena is again stabilized. Thomas tells his father that he must leave. Mr. Norstein asks if the boy will return home safely. "I'll be fine. After all, I am a Norstein." Thanking Yushima as well, Thomas and Gaomon leave.
"Let's go help Marcus," the blond boy says to his digimon.
"Yes, Master," Gaomon agrees.....

And now Gaomon has burst mode....look out Royal Knights!! Don't miss the next exciting episode.
