Episode 45: Activate MetalGarurumon!

Summary:

On their journey to Faga, Taichi and his colleagues arrived at an old, abandoned racing circuit. There is a former champion racer named Machmon, who still runs the course alone.

Garurumon, who loves running with his partner, Yamato, challenges Machmon. During the race Garurumon catches up to Machmon. Suddenly, Machmon launches a dangerous attack on Garurumon while driving. Tailmon recalls that this racing circuit once held the popular Grand Prix with the "Death Race" rule. Speedy Digimon would compete for the title of the fastest. Truth is, it is a death race where any action is allowed during the race.

Machmon seems to be fighting something within him, which causes the Digimon to go out of control and heading for the side of cliff. Garurumon save him, but gets hurt.

When Gabumon wakes up, Machmon apologizes. Gabumon challenges him again, but this time there will be no "Death Race."

With cheerleaders cheering, the two Digimon take off for their second race. Like the first race, when Garurumon gets too close, Machmon attacks. Koshiro discovers that Machmon has been infested by Parasimon. Machmon allowed it to take over his body and mind so he wouldn't lose the championship, but he actually planned to crash and take Parasimon with him...a sad death wish.

Garurumon evolves to Weregarurumon so he and Yamato can fight Parasimon more aggressively. Both Yamato and Weregarurumon are captured, but refuse to give up. That's when Weregarurumon evolves to Metalgarurumon, a Mega Digimon. He removes and destroys Parasimon, and saves Machmon from falling from a cliff.

After the ordeal, Machmon, Gabumon, and Yamato run to the finish line together. It appears that the race ended in a tie!
