Ruli and her friends are preparing for a Halloween party at their culture school. Hiro agrees to assist with the preparations. On his way to the school, Hiro must use his digivice, and learns that "what happens in the Digital World, stays in the Digital World."
While they are preparing, a scary little digimon with a pumpkin head and wielding a knife is secretly grabbing students. Eventually, Ruli's friends start to disappear, and she begins to get very worried. Hiro, Ruli, Gammamon and Angoramon start searching the school.
Since everyone disappeared when they were alone, Hiro volunteers to be the decoy while the others follow a safe distance behind. When Ruli and the others get distracted, Hiro, too, is captured. Thankfully, Gammamon saves Hiro, and they all run for it. Hiro activates the Pseudo-Digital World.
Angoramon identifies the culprit as Pumpmon along with his minions Candmon and Ekakimon. Seems that he wanted to make friends when he came to this world. Sadly, he was alone the whole time, but when this time of the year occurs, his face is plastered all over the city! Pumpmon claims, "everyone should have the same face as me, and then be my friend!" They begin to attack! Candmon uses bonfire, and Ekakimon engages colorful change! Ruli and Angoramon fight back with Petit tornado.
Hiro has an idea to lure them to a room with a fake person. It works, but Pumpmon gets angrier at their deception and attacks with a huge pumpkin. Gammamon evolves to Betelgammamon and destroys it. Then uses sorshot to take Pumpmon down.
Hiro explains that friends don't need to have the same face, and friendship shouldn't be forced. Pumpkin asks if they will be his friends, and Hero and Ruli say yes. Pumpmon cheers that he made human friends. When Hiro uses his digivice to return to the human world, Pumpmon and his minions disappeared, and all had returned to normal.
