It appears that Leviathan is using game characters to find Bootmon. This is causing malfunctions in various IoT and online gaming devices. The appli-drivers notice that Agumon (from the RPG Digimon Universe) seems to be the common link to all of the characters. Haru doesn't believe that Agumon would do anything evil.
Hajime finds the only place where there are no malfunctions is Nakano Broadstreet (known as the holy ground for manga, anime, and video games) , but he feels it is a trap to lure Bootmon.
Haru, Yuujin, Eri, and Astra venture to Broadstreet to investigate and hopefully, find Bootmon. Eri is recognized and surrounded by fans. The same happens to Astra. Yuujin is trapped in the crowd and tells Haru to go on, and they will meet up with him.
After waiting a bit, Haru enters the AR field alone and soon encounters Agumon. After an initial conflict between Gatchmon and Agumon, the latter remembers the name "Haruharuman." "Are you the Haruharuman who lost the battle with Etemon 327 times and the battle with Vamdemon 467 times?" he asks. When Haru admits that he is, Agumon happily jumps into his arms.
After eating a snack, Agumon explains what happened. A voice was heard drawing the game characters into a trap and controlling them. Agumon was able to avoid getting controlled himself. When he saw that the characters were doing bad things, he felt it was up to him to return the characters to the Worlds they belong.
Suddenly, Agumon hears that voice. It summons a group of last boss characters and commands them to attack! When Agumon is captured, Haru Ultimate Appliarise Gatchmon to Globemon. Agumon is saved! He asks Haru to help him evolve, and to the tune of the original song, Brave Heart by Wada Koji (which made me cry), Agumon warp evolves into WarGreymon!
Globemon and WarGreymon work together and defeat the bosses, as well as, the core responsible, which turns out to be Uratekumon, a hints and tips app. After the battle, Agumon and the other game characters go back to the Worlds where they belong.
Before returning to Broad Street, where things have become much more organized, Haru and Gatchmon see Bootmon flying above them, but he escapes once again. Haru smiles, because he knows that if it wasn't for Bootmon, he never would have met Agumon.
