Her name, Hawkeye, is very appropriate as this staunch First Lieutenant keeps a very close watch on Colonel Mustang. In fact, she has saved him on a few instances when he has made errors in judgment. Lucky for the Colonel, Lieutenant Hawkeye is a sharp-shooting wizard with her handgun...even if she is sometimes too quick on the draw.

Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye is a dedicated member of the military, however, she doesn't really like soldiers. She became a soldier for the sole purpose of protecting the man she cares about. That was her decision.

Although she may seem rigid, there is a soft spot for Riza (aside from the Colonel that is). That would be for the dog she took in when one of her comrades found it shivering in the rain. Although, she claims to be a strict disciplinarian, one can see that the dog she named Black Hayate is treated with love and care. Something she hopes to do for Colonel Mustang one day.
