Dashing young Colonel Roy Mustang is making his way up in the ranks quickly. His ambition is to one day become Fuhrer. Suffice it to say, he is disillusioned by the way things have been going (especially the war in Ishbal), and he hopes to improve those things as Fuhrer.

Roy Mustang is also a licensed alchemist. His ability to manipulate fire resulted in his name, "The Flame Alchemist." To explain...his right glove is made from some special cloth called an ignition cloth. It creates sparks when he rubs it hard enough. Then he adjusts the oxygen concentration in the air to create powerful flames.

It's hard to believe, but it was Colonel Mustang who was ordered to kill Winry's parents. It seems that as doctors they would continue to treat patients whether they were friend or foe. The doctors were told time and time again not to treat the enemy, but they followed a code of ethics. Sadly, their killing is something that will haunt Colonel Mustang to his grave. In fact, from then on the Colonel swore that even though he was told to, he would not follow irrational orders.

Roy Mustang is a dedicated soldier, but he is also a man who loves the ladies. His love of a skirt can make for some funny scenes in various episodes. Aside from that, the Colonel is always striving to do what is right. Unfortunately, it's that righteousness that may keep him from achieving his goal. (You'll soon see what I mean!)
