On a Summer field trip to Mitomo Island, fifteen children venture into a cave and make a discovery that will change their lives forever. Deep inside the cave they come across a reclusive and unusual man. He asks the kids if they want to play a game that he is developing. He says that fifteen enemy beings will attack the Earth, and one by one, the children will be expected to pilot a giant, spider-like robot to fight them off. All (except the youngest) willingly go along with the idea.
The children's enthusiasm soon turns to uncertainty and fear when they realize that this game is not just make believe. In fact, the Mecha battles cause great damage and even casualties. But if the enemy is not defeated, what will happen to Earth? Even more shocking.....Right after a pilot defeats the enemy, he/she meets with an unexplained fatal accident.
Hold onto you hats, this is an anime series full of mystery and intrigue. Like a game of musical chairs...who will be the next one out?
