Dog Days

Shinku Izumi is an intelligent 13 year old who dreams of excelling in gymnastics and winning the Iron athletics competition. On the day before Spring vacation, he is summoned to an alternate world involved in a very unique war. A war where there is no death and the battles are presented to the public as if they were a sporting event. The commentary reminds me of Monday Night Football.

Once in the alternate world called Flonyard, Shinku learns that he was summoned by Princess Milihore of the dog-like Biscotti Republic. They were in desperate need of a hero for they had been losing consistently to the forces of the feline-like Galette Lion Army. Shinku plays along and proves he is a very capable hero even if he is a bit naive. When his help leads to a long awaited win for the Biscotti Republic, a celebration ensues. However, the celebration is short lived when Shinku learns that once he is summoned, he cannot go back to his world… Oh No!

My Thoughts: This is a cute series for those who enjoy a non-serious action adventure, fantasy-type anime. There's some of the usual fan service; ie...boy falls down on top of girl with hand(s) landing on a forbidden part of the body… or boy enters hot bath to find naked, embarrassed girl... Sigh, some of it really gets old after a while. Even so, the series is still enjoyable.
