Hatsukoi LimitedLast weekend, instead of working on the website, I decided to treat myself to a new anime series that recently (April 2009) aired in Japan entitled Hatsukoi Limited. After watching all 12 episodes, I couldn't help but be reminded of the hit by the J. Geils Band, "Love Stinks", which goes something like this: As the song suggests, Hatsukoi Limited is a short series depicting the first love relationships of several Middle and High school students. Do they always work out? Of course not; life just doesn't work that way. In spite of that, Hatsukoi does an excellent job of conveying the inner feelings of the characters involved. Each episode presents very realistic issues that could effect anyone's life. No....sorry action fans....there isn't much of that in this series, however, if your into just a bit of fan service, than you won't be disappointed. Luckily, the fan service isn't distasteful or overbearing. The character designs are attractive, and the animation quality is soft and simplistic. In general, this series would appeal to female anime fans rather than male, but I feel that males could still relate to certain situations that occur. To sum things up, Hatsukoi Limited is a light and enjoyable series. Just the fact that I was able to marathon all 12 episodes in just one day proves how much I liked it. You will too.
