Hayate the Combat Butler
Alternate title "Hayate no Gotoku."
Ayasaki Hayate is a honest, hard working boy, which is hard to believe since his parents are complete opposites. Due to their lazy and irresponsible behavior, it is up to Hayate to work just to put food on the table. One Christmas Eve, right after losing his job, Hayate arrives home only to discover that his parents have skipped town leaving him with a huge debt. Seems they borrowed a lot of money from dishonest sources. Those sources arrive at his door expecting him to work for them in order to pay off this debt, but their line of work is shady! Luckily Hayate manages to escape.
While he is hiding, Hayate spots a pretty little girl all by herself. Feeling pressured, he decides to kidnap the girl and ask for enough ransom to pay off the debt. The girl, however, has no idea his intention is to kidnap her especially since the boy is so clumsy. During the time Hayate goes to make the ransom call, two men actually do kidnap the child. Hayate risks his life to rescue her. In gratitude, she gives him a job as her butler and protector. And that's how the excitement begins!
