Itazura na Kiss
Itazura na Kiss is an anime series based off the very popular manga created in 1991. Sadly, the manga was never completed due to the author's (Kaoru Tada) tragic death at the age of 38. However, recently the news surfaced that just prior to her death, Kaoru had told her husband how she wanted to end the manga. Based on that information, the anime will try to follow her planned ending.
The storyline is based on the relationship between Kotoko Aihara (an adorable but simple minded girl) and Naoki Irie (a brilliant but conceited boy). After watching Naoki give a speech at the opening ceremony of their first year of high school, Kotoko fell head over heals. A few years later when she finally gathers enough courage, Kotoko gives Naoki a letter professing her love only to be shot down. Just when she is sure that Naoki is out of her heart, tragedy strikes. The house that she and her father live collapses...leaving them homeless. In a twist of fate, Kotoko's father's friend invites them to stay at their home with his wife and sons. As it so happens, the man's name is Shigeki Irie and.....you guessed it....it's Naoki's father.
The anime builds on the characters' growing relationship and the antics that occur. Although, I'm not fond of seeing a girl throw herself at a guy, this series can be very entertaining and addicting. If you're a fan of Shojo, this is one you'll want to see.
