Macross Frontier
Let me first say that the animation quality and music (Yoko Kanno; need I say more) in this particular series is amazing. Those two aspects alone put Macross Frontier at a higher level than most anime. If I wanted to change anything, it would have been to make the main protagonist, Alto Saotome, look a bit more masculine….however, that would have changed the storyline since his appearance is meant to be pretty (nicknamed; princess).
Similar to the Gundam series, Macross Frontier is the story of a space colony fleet trying to find a planet where they can live. Unfortunately, their search is not without struggle and tragedy as they are often under attack by alien creatures called Vajra. As the story progesses, we learn that these creatures were attacking, because they were attracted to the V-Type infection that Ranka and Sheryl (female protagonists) have. This infection causes fold waves when the girls sing and can put the aliens in a state of confusion.
