Omamori Himari
On his 16th birthday, Yuto Amakawa learns of his family lineage when a cat demon (Himari, transformed into a beautiful human girl) rescues him from an evil spirit. (Not exactly the kind of birthday present you’d expect….or is it??) Yuto was very young when he was left alone after his parents died in an auto accident. His best friend, Rinko, was there to help care for him. Yuto always wore a charm around his neck said to protect him against evil spirits. However, that charm loses its power when he turned 16.
As it turns out, Yuto is the only living descendant of the Amakawa Clan, one of the 12 ancient demon-slayer families. This Clan possesses a tremendous power that is feared by demons and spirits, and Yuto soon learns that he can wield that power. It's called the Light Ferry. Since that charm no longer works, Yuto is forced to use this power to defend himself against demons trying to kill him. Luckily, he has the help of Himari. There's just one problem....he's allergic to cats.
NOTE: Although Yuto's allergy is mentioned, it really doesn't come into play in the anime series that much.
