Psycho Pass

Psycho Pass (appropriately named) is about a world where the mental state and personal tendencies of humans can be quantified.  All sorts of inclinations are recorded and policed.  These measured numbers used to judge people's souls are commonly called "Psycho-Pass".  The system, entitled the Sibyl System, is enforced in an effort to wipe out aggression and crime.

When a person's psycho-pass  exceeds a specific value, police detectives take action.  They are accompanied by Crime Coefficients, whose psycho-pass exceeds the limit as well.  They are considered people of bankrupt character.  Normally, they would be completely isolated as latent criminals.  However, they're allowed into the outside world for the sole purpose of flushing out criminals just like themselves.  They're hunting dogs.  Kougami Shinya, one of the main characters, is a crime coefficient. Enter Tsunemori Akane, a young rookie detective.  She is just learning the ropes, and doesn't always perform by the book.  How will Akane grow during this series?  Will she become a model detective, or will she fight the Sibyl System?

My thoughts:  Whoa! Big Brother is Watching!  Having a bad day?  Be careful! One wrong thought and your life could change forever.  There are so many flaws in this system.  On the one hand, for example,  many vicious acts could have been avoided.  Columbine, 911, and the Batman Beyond massacre....to name just a few.  Basically, mental institutions and prisons would be a thing of the past.  There is no place for the insane in this world.  An individual may have treatment available to them, however, if you are deemed untreatable, you are eliminated... Even if it is only a temporary state of mind!  Yikes!  I love the premise of this series (perfect for Adult Swim), however, no doubt about it, this anime is NOT for kids!
