Rainbow Nisha Rokubou no ShichininAre you’re tired of the same old fan service, high school or samurai anime? Want to try something different? Then you've got to check out Rainbow. However, this series is not for everyone, and I would rate it "R" based on the American movie rating system. That being said....if you're into gut wrenching drama, this is for you. In my opinion, a series, such as this, that touches your emotions so intensely is one that will be remembered for a lifetime. As far as the anime premise; spare the rod takes on a whole new meaning in this cruel reform school environment. In fact, it depicts the agony and brutality of a corrupt system. The story takes place in the 1950’s and centers around several teenage boys considered juvenile delinquents that were sent to Shonan Special Reform School. Their crimes vary… some were accidents and others may have been justified. What is not justified is how the boys are treated. They must deal with torturous punishments, severe beatings, and a perverted, insane Doctor. Can the boys, who’ve endured such abuse, leave an establishment like this and go on to live a normal life? The Rainbow anime series is based on the award winning manga written by George Abe and illustrated by Masasumi Kakizaki. It is produced by Madhouse Studios and expected to run for 23 episodes. For the dregs of society like us, the moment we stop risking our lives for even the slimmest chance, we're just losers.
